Yes they are on the program. Whoever wrote the press releasefor the Open did not do a real clear job. The rules have always been the same as the Bako or Chow Open Races. 3,000 lbs with driver, iron blocks and iron heads,  single 4 bbl on gas etc.  Same rules as they have used for the last 5 years.

i think that all the body s will be ok for the open show  and the purse will depend on car count but i think around 2000.00 for the win would  be real close on 35 cars  p.s we have gears for rent at olsons 125.00 for the weekend  6.50 5.29 5.43 6.33 6.20 5.14 5.00 call early they will go fast  559-582-0433

Not trying to start anything, but wouldn't it make common sense to put a quick change under these super streets that run at so many different tracks? They cost less in the long run and gear changes are simple and cheap.  Just seems that common sense would dictate that type of a rule. There is no HP advantage and there are a bucket full of used Q/C's around, we've got two or three and have sold acouple before. Just courious I guess. Not trying to step on Olson's pocket money but still wondering.  JMO Duane

Hey  Mudslinger, it wouldn't be a bad idea as there is no HP advantage as you say, but luckily a person can get by with almost just 2 sets of 9" carriers. 1 set can get you by for Chow, Bako, SMS, Watsonville, Pahrump and another for Hanford, Imperail and Perris. Granted it would be cool to be able to fine tune for each track on different nights as they go tacky to dry etc.   Boy SMS was sucking out the HP early in the night Sunday....

Thats cool, just wondering out loud, back about a million years ago when I was racing, I hated the  pumpkin fights. I learned to hate the smell of gear oil. LOL Duane

You tell Charlie, anytime he wants to bolt on the wide tires and the four barrel, do it, Charlie's a good driver and a great person, he certainly would be a asset to DLM's!! Again, JMO Duane

What about the G M crate motor with alum heads .  Is that legal

Title: Re: DIRT NATIONALS OCT 6/7 AT KINGS
Post by jrtracing on 09/05/06 at 8:34pm

It's legal during E vs W points. I think it should be legal at open shows, as long as it has all the seals still on it. I mean, how much more carb will it take? They already run a four barrell.

If it's a True Open Comp Race It wouldn't matter what it is. Would it?

I think I have a set of 3.00 gears around somewhere, if you need them for that spec motor at Hanford.

Pretty close, the only difference is imperial is bigger than you think.(6.33)

Title: Re: DIRT NATIONALS OCT 6/7 AT KINGS
Post by sj_valley_dave on 09/06/06 at 8:13am

Thats the gear we run at the 4bbl Open Show at Hanford also, a 6.33....just don't turn near the RPM as at Imperial...........It's going to be interesting to see if the crate engines are allowed. If they still are sealed up properly they will be down HP to the Open motors, but every Open Show in the California has in their rules....any size engine, iron block, iron heads single 4bbl on gas.  Will all the tracks make the rule change for the 604 Crate engines????

I don't understand the need for a rule change or is the 604 the crate with the aluminum heads?

Title: Re: DIRT NATIONALS OCT 6/7 AT KINGS
Post by sj_valley_dave on 09/06/06 at 8:22am

The 604 is the crate with aluminum heads. The 602 has the iron heads. That will be where the issue is as averything else in the engine would pass no problem at all.

3500 TO WIN MAYBE MORE BY RACE DAY BASE ON CAR S   125.00 CAR AND DRIVER FOR BOTH DAYS 2000.00 TO WIN FOR STREET STOCKS  MORE CARS MORE MONEY

Looks like 3d car is legal. Getting close to the Showdown.

Title: Re: DIRT NATIONALS OCT 6/7 AT KINGS

For the past 10 years the tire rule for the "Open Show" at Kings was any 8" tire on an 8" wheel.  If they stay with the same rules as the rest of the California tracks, thats what probably will be.
