Anyone want to share any knowledge or experience with replacing the rear frame rails and mounting leaf spring sliders using Camaro style springs, keeping the stock wheelbase.
What angle and height would you mount the sliders?
I'm thinking they should be in the same location as the bottom through bolt of stock shackles?
How do I keep the spring eye in the center of the slider when I'm determining mounting location?
Can you give some helpful advice?

REAR Mount: the LR bolt (bushing) needs to be near the rear of the shackle. It will roll forward under roll and wrap. I keep mine about 3/4 - 1/2 of an inch from the rear (on the LR.) On the RR keeping the bolt about center is pretty good. The bolt actually rolls forward under accel and wrap. It does move back some but not like people think when they jump on the bumper. Keeping the RR bolt close to center is a good starting point.

I would also suggest that you have some weight back there so you can see where the spring will sit under a load. When we put our first set in we found out the hard way when the spings started to flatten out and bottomed the sliders out.

yessir, talon 75 hit it right on the money! landrum leafspring tech page, under oval track section...great diagrams and exact measurements..
and of course Billy is absolutly correct !..the left side slider needs to be offset forward about 1/2 " for body roll.
now this is exactly what this tech forum is all about!!

thanks to dave bauer for reminding us about pinion angle. always wait to set until car is scaled, with driver , fuel, etc..things change way too much ...every car is different enough that we wait to weld the spring perches until the last thing!..
it's also a good idea to check pinion angle every few races. springs wear out, get bent, major chassis changes can affect pinion angle..don't assume that it's still 6 deg. like it was when you built the car!
same goes for toe setting, during weekly maintenance, last thing before loading up!
any other changes ie:camber, caster,ride heights, weight jacking..will affect toe...
anything that moves either a- arm or spindle in any direction will affect toe change.

Thanks for helping guys. Keep the information coming. The frame rails are cut off already and I will start building soon. Any more help? How about rear frame design? Location of fuel cell mounting? How about hanging the body?

If you still have the stock rear shock mounts in place, that's where you start..weld a piece of 2" sq tubing bettween the shock mounts. then take your 2x3 or 2x2 sq. tube up from the ft. spring perch to the tube bettween the shock mounts. next, run the sq. tube straight back to the rear panel where the bumper mounts. run another sq. tube across the back of the car so the bumper mounts up...weld everything up solid and then run some round tube forward from the sq. tube bettween the shock mounts to the center bar of the main hoop.this will keep the back of the car very strong..the new frame rails should be the same width apart as the stock was at the shackle area (I cant remember the exact measurement !)
I like to put the cell as far forward and as high poss.,for good side bite (dirt) and i like to run the cell offset to the rt.(pass) side so it tightens the car up as we burn the fuel load...
body mounting...hmmm.... you are on your own!! unless you talking a fully fabbed chassis like a mod or latemodel*** you just have to look at it and add tabs where you need them..it's easier if the car has never been skinned before, cuz everything is already where you need it to be...then its just a matter of making mounts and cutting away what you don't need...you can make a lot of extra work for yourself if you don't skin the car with a plan to remount the body in advance..

what about floating the rear end on the leaf springs and adding a torque arm? how does that work?
