Title: Bkfd hobby rearend Post by BPinette on 01/14/07 at 9:45pm Here's a question for Bako tech officials or racers familliar with the rules. Are rear disc brakes allowed on a ford 9" in a GM car in hobby stock or do I need to use drum brakes. |
Title: Re: Bkfd hobby rearend Post by 17t_racer on 01/19/07 at 9:57am i went round and round after sombody crying about my car having disc breaks on it. the rules state that the rear end must be stock. nothing about the brakes. so the answer is yes you can run disc brakes. bryan terry 17t |

Title: Re: Bkfd hobby rearend Post by snoopy22 on 01/19/07 at 5:21pm This is what the rules say for the brakes. Complete OEM 4 wheel brakes in good working order required. No turning brakes of any kind allowed. All 4 wheel brakes must work at all times. No dual racing type master cylinders or balance bars allowed. Unaltered OEM working master cylinders must be mounted in OEM location. Unaltered OEM brake pedal assembly and mount only. Must be mounted in OEM location and unaltered, No exceptions. No after market front spindles or brake rotors allowed. No modifications to spindles or rotors allowed. |

Title: Re: Bkfd hobby rearend Post by BPinette on 01/19/07 at 9:22pm Thanks for the responses. There seems to be some disagreement on the interpretation of the rules. I read the rules before I posted and could see they could be interpreted either way. "OEM 4 wheel brakes" can be interpreted to allow any brake that was OEM on a stock vehicle thus allowing rear discs if they came from a production vehicle but not allow after market brakes such as Willwood. It could also be interpreted to mean "If it didn't come that way it aint allowed!" Do any of the Bako Tech people care to chime in? The reason I'm asking the ?? is I have a 9" that is already set up for rear discs. I am getting it ready so I can swap it in when I run over to Bako. If I can run discs it is one less thing I need to change on it. |
Title: Re: Bkfd hobby rearend Post by lmfan01 on 01/20/07 at 7:34pm ford did come out with stock disc brakes. if you run them you will be ok.... If you put any aftermarket parts on the rearend you will get in trouble..... |
