Title: Ernie Irvan's 68 Nova LMS built by Ivan Baldwin Post by Ken_Bonnema on 03/11/07 at 3:49pm This is a really cool ol' racer. I'm not sure how many pavement cars Ernie had out here but I believe this is NOT his Stockton Championship Car. I think that it is his first Baldwin car that he raced in Open Comp. Pavement shows at San Jose, Madera, Roseville, ect. The guy I got it from bought it about 20 years ago and planned to run A Sedan in SCCA. As such, the hood, bumpers and fenders are fiberglass. The good news is that it was kept inside during that period (and still is) so it's in great condition. It's a roller (no engine or trans.) but everything else is pretty much there including a nice 9" Floater with (I was told) a new 4:56 Detroit Locker, Coil over Front Suspension, Aluminum Radiator, Headers, Collector. Fuel Cell ,P/S Pump & Pulleys. It has the original stock Nova Floor Pan, Pedals and even the Steering Column. It does NOT have a Quick Release Wheel. There is also a Brass Dash Plate that States that it was built by Ivan Baldwin " Specially For Ernie Irvan" and was constructed at Jack McCoy's shop in Modesto. That means that it was one of Ivan's early builds and as such was likely co-constructed by Gary Nelson although I'm not sure on that one. To cap it off there is an Ultra Rare set of Baldwin Engineering Aluminum Front Dust Covers. It's hard to put a price on this but I'm gonna start at $12,500.00 but will look at all SERIOUS offers. I'm moving to Oregon in a few months and would like this gone before then but I'm not gonna give it away. I would likely trade it for a late model Mazda Miata, Honda S-2000 or a Scion X/A or?? I can send pics but please be SERIOUS. My cell# is 831/345-2089. BTW this car is on ebay and there are lots of Pictures there. |
