Title: Petaluma results 8/9 Post by PetalumaPits on 08/10/08 at 10:08am 12 cars heat race winners : 56 Steve Johnson and 70 Nick Perivolaris main event: 28g 22g 56 70 59 58b 66 83 17s 39 97 7 Main saw the 59 of John Silva spin twice early as the track was hooked up in 1-2 and dryslick in 3-4. This guy went to the back after his first spin, and then picked off about 4 guys in the next lap before spinning again while 3 wide going by another two. PUT THIS GUY IN A CONSISTENT RIDE ALREADY. STOP THE MADNESS. Unless the lack of racing is self induced, there's no reason this guy can't be running with anyone in California. The next spinner was the 70 of Perivolaris and he went to the back and the elbows went up and people started getting passed. Up front, the 28g, 22g and 58b of Restad, Guglielmoni and Ryan Shafer checked out from the 56 of Johnson and the rest of the field. The race went from lap 5 to the checkered yellow free, but the story of the race was the 70 of Perivolaris. He found something up on top of the dryslick portion in 3-4 and everyone else was down on the bottom tip-toeing through 3-4. Picking off cars at about 1 a lap for the last 7 laps put him up to 3rd when the 22g, who was third, had trouble with a lapper and Perivolaris set sail for the top two, 28g and 58b. At this point, the fans started to see what was happening as well and started the cheering. With 23 laps down out of 25 a lapper got the top two bottled up and sideways on the frontstretch and the golden road to the winner's circle for the top two had been chipped away because the 70 was now part of the battle, diving down low on the frontstretch and into the berm portion of 1-2 to avoid the madness on the frontstretch. The 28g ended up getting the worst of it and faded back to 7th. The 58b took over the point for the white flag lap and Perivolaris showed up on the outside of the 58b's door in 1-2, but he couldn't complete the pass. Down the backchute, he tried again, and couldn't get the job done and ended up gassing it up out of turn 4 and chose the shot at glory instead of the saving of parts and ended up riding the wall down the frontstretch in an attempt to make the track wider than it was. Shafer was masterful in not making any mistakes and took the checkered in front of the 70 car, whose shot at glory ended up in the frontstretch wall after the checkereds. Congrats to Shafer for being fast all main event long, and congrats to Nick Perivolaris for putting on a great show. 58b - Shafer 70 - Perivolaris 22g - Guglielmoni 66 - Arnold 56 - Johnson 17s - Shafer 28g - Restad 39 - Barbaccia 97 - Iverson 7 - Boeck 59 - Silva 83 - Souza |
Title: Re: Petaluma results 8/9 Post by ReDDogPit4R on 08/10/08 at 1:27pm Restad lead 24 laps and while taking the white flag the 39 lapper which Restad was passing for the third time took him out in front of the flag stand...Later the 39 said he had car problems...Why would you stay out there and do what you did? The officials need to do something about the cars who can stay up to speed or out of the way in Petaluma!!! It hurts the racing for the fans as well as the racers!! If you want to just cruise around and have a good time then go get a mini stock not a Late Model where guys put in hours, dollars and there hearts all week long!!! |
