Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by John Hanson Racing #44 on 11/24/08 at 2:17pm Gary Rayburn is right on the money with the LTD as a great race car,but I would also recommend another car as well a "1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car",Those are great cars as well for dirt racing.Rayburn and I drive camaros to give everybody else an advantage.Camaros are bad handling cars but Lincolns and Ford LTD's are the best. |

Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by sundown on 01/09/09 at 10:29am K-9 in 09. Hey, that rhymes. I ran my first dirt oval in 1969. I had to have my parents sign a release form. The car was a 1956 Ford with a 292 cubic inch V-8. Then, I drag raced thru the 70's, and I got into mud racing in a 76 Blazer. I flipped the Blazer over for eight rolls on The Wide World of Sports TV show. I was just trying to be their "Agony of Defeat clip. I enjoy racing at Santa Maria and warn you that I will be way in the gray part of the rules this year. So thus.......K-9 in 09. |

I am assuming you have a Ford 9" ?? If so I can understand not wanting to change it out just to race here a few times a season. I run a Mopar 8 3/4" rear end which is very similar in design to the Ford 9". I have not dominated or won every race because of it. It made no difference. Neither rear end, 9" or 8 3/4" has any mechanical advantage over the stock GM 10 Bolt other than a wider gear selection and cheaper replacement part prices. Mopar73Car Glen Sparks |

Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by 32MORGAN on 01/20/09 at 7:18am TATE, Ivan at bako has let sms factorys run with bako for 2-3 years, the cars are really close. you shouldn't have to change anything, that's what were working for. the cars that have made changes and tried to run with us have carb, intake leaks and other issues. the bako schedule this years doesn't have the 3-4 week breaks it did last year. so your not going to have the time to make the changes to your car. just call the sms office and see what they say (805-202-1492) ask them if you can run your car(BAKO RULES) the way it is? |

QUOTE With a payout system like that, as long as the minimum payment stayed the same for a low car count ($300), would really bring the cars out. "You get what you pay for" Chad, do yo recall what the pay scale was like from 2nd on back? THX Mopar73Car Glen Sparks |
Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by gl_rayburn98 on 02/25/09 at 10:52pm I understand that Morgan, but I think you misunderstood. I was saying you always talk about bako GUYS...get it? Sancho...maybe I should explain slowly....are you dating a guy there (sancho)? anyways, its not funny anymore cause you killed the joke...Me, Dale, and Dad will be going to opening night to root for you. We will be the ones with signs morgan signs and t-shirts.... P.S. I forget that you are over like a hundred years old and don't always get the jokes. |

Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by gl_rayburn98 on 02/25/09 at 10:58pm By the way, if CK keeps adding these extra sponsored races like the dash for cash and the front row challenge, then the money is fine with me. I don't want to push the issue of a bigger purse right now. I would say, let the car counts get bigger with whats going on right now...cause they will. Allow CK to make a little capital and I am sure the main event money will follow in the future. I see no reason in starting a debate on money for car count right now. |
Title: Re: SMS Factory Stocks Post by Mopar73Car on 02/25/09 at 11:24pm Hey Gary, look..... if a payout is substantial, or the possibility of becoming substantial, it will bring a good car count and conversely more fans in the stands. Right? Just look at what Chris has got planned so far. If all goes well for Him and us. It will be one of the best seasons for SMS in a long time. Again.... "You get what you pay for" You want a good car count.... Pay Them!! Mopar73Car Glen Sparks |

It was very close to Bako at the time...200,150,125,100. Another thing they did was invert the whole field based on point earned average. If you had to tansfer to the main through a B-main, you could still start on the front row of the A-main. Highest point earned average always started 20th. Was the same guy most of the year and he still got 3 wins. Made the whole race more exciting. They also awarded passing points. |
