Title: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Kdawg33A on 12/08/08 at 1:07pm Just wanted to post some differences I noticed. #1 As I stated before, the rules state the fuel cell must be mounted no lower than Center of AXLE. #2 (Brand New 2009) After market floater rear ends ok, solid steel axles only. #3 Rear wheel disk brakes allowed #4 No type of proportioning valve allowed. (Does the stock one count????) |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 12/08/08 at 1:27pm I noticed: adjustable shocks allowed. full spool allowed. fabricated front and rear bumpers allowed. 51% rear, 54% left side weight (may have always been there I just now noticed it) Has bako or perris posted their rules? CD |

Adjustable shocks is the first thing that I saw, and I did'nt like the idea. There could be a lot of money dumped into the shock area because there are hardly any rules on it. Can you run adjusters in the cockpit I wonder? The kits to do that are fairly cheap. Full spool is the same as a mini spool, just heavier. I would asume the stock valve would be ok, but I took mine off when I built my car. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by havocracingsc29 on 12/08/08 at 4:53pm well it looks like i may just run victorville for the 09 season.. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by JOHNSON MOTORSPORTS 99 on 12/08/08 at 8:03pm well when my car was teched at the turkey classic they told me if i wanna race more than 2 races next year at victorville i would have to take my disc brakes off but it appears that isnt true so i may be seeing u guys a few times next year for fun. |

It's like a fifth grader beating up on a first grader Kevin,,,LOL,,JK, maybe now the VV guys will be alittle closer in the rules to you bako guys? |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by csmith3d on 12/08/08 at 9:17pm Jeremy, you've been buying the wrong full spool. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by jeremyqueenerracin on 12/08/08 at 9:49pm oh, i must have been mis thinking , i've run mini spools. Whats different in a full spool? |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by mighty16x on 12/08/08 at 10:11pm now if bako picks up the 8 inch wheels, things will be great for the hobby/street guys. great job! |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 12/09/08 at 12:38pm I just emailed the track to find out if the adjustable shock thing is a typo. Hopefully it was supposed to read "No adjustable shocks allowed." Mighty16x, Your right, bako is the only one clinging to the 7" wheel and tire. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Kdawg33A on 12/09/08 at 1:27pm I've had adjustable shocks for 2 years now. It's not a typo. Never thought of having remote control though LMAO That's how I did the ez up/ tie down thing with the pro shock adjustables |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 12/09/08 at 1:31pm what do you use? How much do they cost? Is it worth the extra $$? CD |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Kdawg33A on 12/09/08 at 1:52pm Good Question Pro Shock SS200A (in the left rear,on tie down) and Pro Shock SS100A (in right front, on ez up) $52 each I think The "A" is for adjustable. Regular is same number w/o A I replaced the right front initially, and it semed to help my push tremendously. Eventually I replaced the LR with the adj in tie down. I was never satisfied with the rear adjustable. I tried many times to adjust it like it said (Compress and turn to line up one of 3 marks) but ended up manually working the shock to feel the adjustment. The front one I would suggest trying, but based on my experience with the rear, you should prolly find something different. All in All, changing my rear leafs did more than anything. They were New to me 200 and 225 landrums. I currently run 50/50 pros on 3 corners with that rf adj on ez up. The Extra money was only around $5 or so per shock. So yeah, it's worth a try. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 12/09/08 at 2:53pm Thanks for all the info. I did not realize they didn't cost anymore than non-adjustable shocks. I can certainly afford to change out one shock when I run VV. I hope the Perris and VV schedules work out this year (no overlap). I would like to run both tracks this year. CD |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by sj_valley_dave on 12/09/08 at 2:59pm If you weigh a 9" third member with a mini spool and one with a spool, it is a lot lighter with the spool. Then you can get a lightened spool, or an ultra light spool to really save weight. Aluminum 5.0 lbs. Lite Steel 6.0 lbs. Megalite Steel 5.55 lbs. Standard Steel 8.9 lbs. Stock carrier with mini spool 13.7 lbs. |

I would not recommend these shocks. Much better to get the afco easy up and tie down shocks. |

agreed, I would also run afco. Leaf springs are a REALLY good fix to Kevin, especially those rates. lol, that's my setup under your car so I get a portion of the next winnings right? ;) jk |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by CamaroKid on 12/10/08 at 9:50am Perris allows vortec heads, how do you guys from Bako and VV feel about this, they are cast iron, and factory made, I use them, I love them, the old camel humps are getting harder to find, and they are getting pricey..... |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Chad11 on 12/10/08 at 10:18am CamaroKid wrote on 12/10/08 at 9:50am:
You must run a torker II intake at Bako. This keeps guys from running the vortec heads. With Bako's rules if you run camel humps you probably have to run a dish piston to meet compression. Most guys run 882, 993, 487, 441 open chamber heads with a flat top piston. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by hogracer3d on 12/10/08 at 2:20pm I think you can redrill the Vortec head with the old bolt pattern and use the torker 2 |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Kdawg33A on 12/10/08 at 3:14pm I don't know enough about them to make a descision one way or another. I was told Malcolm had ram horn exaughst and vortex heads when we drag raced for the win. They are both against the rules, but I was beat in handling. I for one don't care. but VV rules say no on both counts, and VV has more than a few whiney ass people in that class, so don't expect to get away with it. I'd like to spill my secret, but all I can say is I am Sooo under legal in the head department, you'd be pissed to know what I've beat you with. It pays to have an engine builder that knows what he's doing. BTW, I just noticed why our 4th in points was DQ'd, Bako allows a bigger exaughst valve. 1.60 vs 1.50. I bet he had the smaller cam also. That sucks. That ol man came down and ran consistantly on or right near tech pad all season, only to lose it on the season tech. went from 4th to 7th. But on the otherhand with 40 years of racing experience, you'd think he know how to read the rules. Still, It'd be nice if the rules were the same all over. They are so close anyway. BTW, afco from what i seen doesn't sell ez ups or tie downs. Do you have a part number?? Not accusing or anything, i just haven't found them. |

AFC-1022 RF AFC-1034 LR These are from day motorsports 62.99.\ We just use pro straight valve stock mount shocks on the other 2 corners. I think Devan used the same shocks you have. You can ask him if changing to the afcos was worth it. I personally have never ran the pro adjustables. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 12/10/08 at 4:58pm wrote on 12/10/08 at 3:14pm:
I don't think Malcom has vortec heads (at least he didn't on 11/22 when they had us pull valve covers) and our tech guy won't let the novas (Malcom runs a nova) run ram horns because he says they won't clear the crossmember unless you move the engine back. He is just a good driver with a good handling car that, in my experience, always drives you clean (as I think you can atest). Just fyi Handling is everything. CD |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by CamaroKid on 12/10/08 at 5:45pm Curtis is correct, and he can verify that Don (Perris tech guy ) made me remove my center dumps last year and move my engine forward to what he excepted as stock location. Tommy was running for points and Don wouldn't have allowed him to run center dumps. I run the 602 crate motor, and at 3 thousand bucks w/ intake, dist, oilpan, and valve covers w/breathers, it's a deal. Straight from the local G.M. dealer so no shipping costs. it runs right with the 6 to 7 thousand dollar Dugan, and Orange race motors. they would probably dyno a few more ponies but not 3 to 4 thousand dollars worth. I pull 6700 to 7000 rpms. I have probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 to 35 races on it in two years with just basic maintenance. What engine builder can offer a decent motor with intake, hei, oilpan, valvecovers etc. for 3 thousand bucks. no core, no nothing. |
Title: Re: 2009 Victorville Hobby Rules Post by Kdawg33A on 12/10/08 at 5:58pm Ok, Ok, I was only repeating what I heard. And regardless I said I wasn't out motored. i was definately beat on handling (just barely) which is a HUGE improvement for me. CD, Take Chads word as gold. He absolutely smoked us when he ran in 2007. My bro Jackson ended up being the only guy to hang with him eventually. All he did was change the gearing in the trans to make it quicker and squared the car. He also moved the weight around. He's always used the same landrums the car came with and has pro 50/50's all the way around. Don't tell anyone. This stuff wins races ;) ;) ;) |
