Title: plug wires question
Post by W1CK3D R4C1NG on 12/29/09 at 6:50pm

how long do a set of MSD plug wires last?

if there not burnt from the headers or have any cuts...
also, how do you check them to see if they are bad or going bad?

Thanks...
Rich

If you can check with the manufactuer thru their web site they should have a ohm value when checked with an ohm meter. If there is no reading, infinite resistance then its an open circuit= bad plug wire.

MSD's web site says the wires i have should have 40 to 50 ohm's per foot... i'll check them out... thanks, i never thought about looking at there site for my answer...

i have used plug wires that were 3 to 4 yrs old when i would burn or break one at the track. i would think as long as they are not cracked or broken they should work until you can get new ones.

right on, thats more of what i was wondering... you know how the manufactuer's like to say there stuff will last forever, when they really dont... know what i mean...

Thanks...

I think that as long as you don't have an open circuit that you will have a plug wire thats still good.40-50 ohms is not that much resistance, anything under 100 would still probally be ok.
