Title: Vacuum Leak? Post by jcschlundt on 03/25/10 at 9:50pm My engine will stay reved at a higher idle rpm after I blurp the gas sometimes. (it will also slowly climb in rpm until I kill it). Throddle isn't stuck, so I'm guessing theres a vacuum leak? Any body have any insight or experience with this? |
Title: Re: Vacuum Leak? Post by miniguru27 on 03/25/10 at 11:03pm Try checking the base plate of the carb to make sure its not warped. Then I would also check the butterflys on the carb to make sure none of those are hanging up. |
Title: Re: Vacuum Leak? Post by jp80 on 03/31/10 at 4:17pm It's most definetly your secondary butterfly hanging up. carb cleaner will help, spray it on the shaft |
Title: Re: Vacuum Leak? Post by 3racer on 03/31/10 at 7:22pm I would take some carb cleaner and spray along the side of the intake. If it revs up then you have a leak. JMO |
Title: Re: Vacuum Leak? Post by jp80 on 03/31/10 at 11:06pm I only say throttle shaft gumming up because I've had the same problem. If it was anything else it would not come off of the high idle.. just warm up the car tap the throttle and the idle will be high when you let the throttle off, then grab the secondary throttle shaft and turn it closed, it will and the idle will be normal. I found out you have to stay on keeping that shaft clean on a weely basis. hope this helps.. |
