Title: Header question Post by skooby69M on 03/28/10 at 11:13pm I just bought this truck an it has an 89 350 in it engine ended up blowing up cam broke in the places rod bearing broke nun 6 piston rod broke into 2 piecesy headers on one side by the starter were crimpted there telling me at wrk that it caused an exhaust restriction at CYl 4&6. An would cause it to blow like it did is there any truth to this ? An would an exhaust restriction cause his ? |
Title: Re: Header question Post by imracin68j on 03/29/10 at 12:00am the broken rod probably broke the cam. Was the timing off? Sounds like detination. Were you racing the engine or street driving? It takes something really messed up to break a rod in a street motor. |

Title: Re: Header question Post by skooby69M on 03/29/10 at 9:55pm No they had truck on lift trying to find leak which was coming from timing cover they had motor going hard they told me it had 4 quarts in the pan when they tore it down the lower part of motor broke they said piston also broke an maybe in 2 an yes I do thnk the rod bearing froze up an I was on my way home billy when it broke but you could turn motor over it would squeak really bad then locked up so trying to figue out if it was cause of lack of oil my area mngr comes down to look at it on thursday so have to prove it's there fault truck was runnin good so dnt know if it could of done it with him racing motor also |
