Title: Tulare 5/1
Post by scottwoodhouse on 04/27/10 at 12:16pm

Thunderbowl has central cal mods and the west coast late models

now there have been some issues with purse, but here is the fix. Because the floating purse never works with getting cars we are going to have a under 20 car purse and over 20 car purse

here are the nuts and bolts
under 20: 800 win 100 to start with the middle getting a little squeezed but still fair considering the count

over 20: 1000 win and 100 start and more generous in middle.  I will post the breakdown when I remember to have it with me, but this is a good thing.

Now I spoke to several mod drivers Saturday and they felt this purse is  more than fair so the tracks can continue to host events with good purse structure.

Hopefully we will see you at the races!  Take care!

So even if only say 5 cars show up I still get 800 to win? Is Sawyer going to be there? I want to race against him. I will see you there on Saturday.

No he's not going to be there.. He said he was going to SMS this weekend.

You don't have a car so that's not gonna happen.  Lol.

Robby will probably be in SM getting some more points for the memorial day show.

Scott
If under 20 cars is $800 to win and over 20 cars is $1000 to win what if you get exactly 20 cars is it $900 to win?
Don

Congrats to Alex, you ran one heck of a race.  It would have been interesting if there had been a yellow.  Probably would have ended up as one of the best finishes of the year.

You're right, 13 cars is not very good.  But I'll take 13cars over the 8 cars that they had at Bakersfield any time.

santa maria had 27 modifieds, and the best modified finish of any track in 2010 in california bar none (IMO anyways) ;D

20 at Ocean on Friday. Our lowest car count this season was 19,but we had 25 cars a couple of races ago. Not bad for an IMCA race on Friday nights.

do the math? only so many cars in a specific area and with SMS having a two day show and bako also running and the tulare also? basic math, don't ya think?

Title: Re: Tulare 5/1

Well last week hanford had 22, SMS 23 and ocean 19 I believe all on a Saturday.  Don't think it is people don't wanna support just think some can't and can't travel as far as they used to week in and week out. At least I hope that's the case.

We had 13 great cars Saturday and they put on a good race.  Now w have decided to cancel the Mods for May 30th since SMS and calistoga both have big shows.

I hope car counts do pick up but maybe the answer is just limit Tulare races to a few special events so we don't have to compete with the weekly point tracks. Who knows

Get the track back to hooked up like before and start checking the rear ends in the modifieds and you will get your car count back. People rather race for a 1000 to win other then 500 bucks but not on a burned up track and when you got guys in the class saying to check rear ends and you say theres no time guys arent gonna wanna come back

Title: Re: Tulare 5/1
Post by jp80 on 05/03/10 at 7:23pm

you mean they're using gold track rear ends?

Title: Re: Tulare 5/1
Post by scottwoodhouse on 05/03/10 at 7:25pm

OK...so by no time I did mean...We didn't prepare to check rear-ends that night.

I did however get under each of the top 3 and look for anything visual...now that might not mean much but I am taking steps to check cars different each week.  I checked for aluminum heads, quick changes and looked at rear-ends in general.  I also checked shocks and tires.  Now I do plan to go a step or two further at the next kings and tulare races the next time out as I finally have my tool for checking valve angle.

I can't check everything everytime, but I will check something different each week.

Now if thats the answer to my car count I am so glad you brought this to my attention....So I expect 20+ next time out.  :-)

Just messin with ya.  I respect the post and am glad racers wanna see more tech.

well atleast your willing to check for it ive been to a lot of tracks and have heard me and other drivers mention in drivers meetings to check for them and they either say we dont know how so pretty much saying if you have one go head and run it. and its not shocks or motors the people are worrying about cause i know guys out there with ther imca motors beating guys with big roller motors but it doesnt matter how much horsepower you have and how good your cars working you cant beat a gold track specially when the guys got the car and motor working right.

hmmm   the possibility that some one is cheating in racing   who da thunked it   glad to hear u r willing to go further than a magnet to check things.   we should make our first appearance of the year on the 15th   come on smitty   lets both show up

Title: Re: Tulare 5/1
Post by scottwoodhouse on 05/04/10 at 9:17pm

Well I did some research on this Gold Track issue.  I even asked the racers and they said they aren't running them...so thats that... LOL

We have a tech plan for 5/15 and it will involve some simple ways of checking for this device.  And if we find any suspected use of the device we will take it to the next step.

See you guys on the 15th!

Hey Scott, It was good meeting you at Tulare this past weekend.  I think it's great that you are going to check rear ends at Hanford, but I think it should just be done and not announced in advance.
See you in Hanford, Jumbo ;D

Well maybe if someone was cheating they will stop. And if not we get to catch them.

Me personnally, I don't want to catch anyone cheating. And with us checking random things during post race tech we should reduce most issues.

It was good to meet you to jimbo.
