Title: need a little help Post by Btroxell on 05/09/10 at 10:49pm I snapped off an easy out bit in a broken exhaust manifold stud, and I don't know how to get it out. I've tryed a bigger easy out but it won't drill in to the broken one. Any ideas? |
Title: Re: need a little help Post by W1CK3D R4C1NG on 05/09/10 at 11:43pm i've broke them off to... the way i got it out was to take a chizzel and hammer, and try to tap it out... its a pain to do but it was the only option i had at the time... also take a torch and heat the metal up around it... it will expand and hopfully make the stud a little losser... or soak the heck out of it with some panther piss or some other kind of bolt lossener |
Title: Re: need a little help Post by jp80 on 05/10/10 at 7:51am Heat up the easy out to red hot and that wil take the hardness out of it and allow you to drill out the minimum diameter. |
Title: Re: need a little help Post by Andrew on 05/10/10 at 4:38pm You're screwed |
Title: Re: need a little help Post by lwiseracing on 05/10/10 at 9:08pm take a wire feed welder tack to the end of the easy out intell u get a littel bit built up on it. then put a nut over it. weld the nut to the tach u just made and turn the easy out out. make sure u turn it like your going to tighten the bolt the easy out will just screw out. |

Title: Re: need a little help Post by imracin68j on 05/12/10 at 8:07am Take a bolt and cone grind it to a point. Then lightly spot weld the bolt to the broken stud. Spray some WD on it and take it out. |
Title: Re: need a little help Post by Dietzsch_Racing25 on 05/12/10 at 9:27am I drilled a bunch of little holes around the easy out. Once I got it out I drilled the hole oversized and put a helicoil in it. I didn't have a welder at the time. That seems like a pretty good idea. CD |
