Title: Merced Speedway Post by trose5r on 06/03/10 at 1:03pm Just a few things to help those that want to know what is going on with Merced Speedway from John Soares Jr. 1) Will start racing July 9th (yes Friday Nights) 2) Chuck will have nothing to do with the track. 3) UMP rules for Mods 4) Track configuration will be changed with the back strightway moving infront of the lights(as soon as possible maybe not until next season) 5) The Web site will be up with the old address as soon as possible. This should help with some answers for everyone, I had a nice talk with John and look forward to racing Merced again. |

Title: Re: Merced Speedway Post by 01M on 06/03/10 at 5:00pm just drove by the track and that big dirt pile near the exit of the track is a lil more than half way gone and from what i can see from the street is spread all across the track. i dont know how good that dirt was being as it has been there since chuck brought it but im gonna stop by 2morrow and try to take some pics of it. |

They have created a new, temporary website for the Speedway. They are in the process of getting the old website transferred over. For now, the website can be found at www.racemerced.com. When we went to Tulare and Chico it was 35 car 35 driver and 30 transponder,total $100 bucks,40 bucks isn't that bad,but maybe his math is worse than his spelling. |

LAME!. and has for the mods being the "big boys" i garantee you there is just has high caliber of drivers in the streets and there is also the fact that some mod drivers have been running street stocks or hobbies in bako and other places. |

And to that I say. 1 Ryan's motor passed the cubic inch test; he is running legal rocker arms and a legal cam or was when he was checked. He is running a legal 4412. 2. Alex Stanford was checked for a gold trac twice last year and had only been to Chow a few times this year and has only been to the tech pad once. His car was weighed and found within the tolerance. The same tolerance as everyone gets. 3. Mike has also been checked for a gold trac, the same as every Super that night. Last week he was checked for another form of traction control and was found legal. Now as far as his motor, it has not been checked since his last one blew up. But his past motor was within the cubic inch rule for minimum weight. It has a legal cam and lifters. What else makes it a cheater motor? Every week there is a new theory and every week it is disproved and another theory emerges. Last year Mike dominated and all I heard was what a cheater he is. That the only way he could win so much had to be cheating. But, when the 3D car came and beat him twice, did anyone say 3D was cheating? As far as being Kenny's brother being an advatage? I would say not so. It's just the opposite. Kenny is harder on his brother than anyone else. If you have ever listened the radio traffic at the track, you would hear it. So where else are racers cheating? Racers as a whole tend to never admit good driving beat them. Its always the other guy is cheating, or he has a money motor, or he is getting favoritism. This thread is supposed to be about Merced. SO I will end my discussion about Chow. Anyone who wants to discuss it more, please start a new thread, talk to me at the track, or call me. |

Title: Re: Merced Speedway Post by 29kDAD on 06/18/10 at 9:58am We had an illegal part on our 4 banger cuz thats how we got the car, we raced, got caught by the tech guys and got DQd, we fixed our car came back and won again with one of the smallest motors out there, passed tech and kept the trophy. My son has been racing 11 years and is an excellent driver, yet even when we are totaly legal and win, all I hear in the pits is " what did you guys do to that motor, or to your suspention." A good driver can drive anything well. Hats off to Mike and Alex and all of the great drivers at Chow who just want to race and win. And hats off to the tech guys. To the rest of you step up your game. |
