Title: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/05/10 at 7:46pm

seems like all the s/s up north are getting alot of practice with all that racing going on. Wonder if any guys from up north are going to come down south and play on the 24th. The 21 pro stock from imperial is going to be racing and we are going to win. I here that there might be some guys coming up from Barona as well and maybe a few from imperial. Lets see if we can make this a good size S/S field.  8-)

come on guys this track is pretty much in between everything. i think we can put on a good race here. Maybe a North VS. South race in cali. Team 21 is calling out all S/S or pro stock to come and race this weekend. No other track i know of is racing that weekend and there nothing really going on anywhere else. Lets see if we can get a 20 car field.

man, i can't wait for that check to get here.... what a whopper!! lol

on a side note, barona paid 112 dollars to finish second when 14 cars started the night.

then i proceeded to get hit so hard in the lr i had the gears knocked out of the rearend. i know where i WONT be going back to race. btw, this wasnt during a wreck, simply entering turn 3 on the first lap.

Get 1st or 2nd in the South Region of the Cal. SS All-Star Shootout Points so you can race in the Cal SS All-Star Shootout Race Oct 29th @ Giant Speedway in Hanford...
also come to a race or two up North:
8/7 @ Bakersfield
8/21 @ Santa Maria Speedway
9/5 @ Santa Maria Speedway (double Points)
all these races will help with your All-Star Points plus it PAYS alot more

if i didnt live nearly 400 miles away from both tracks and didnt work 6-7 days a week, i would seriously consider it, but thats just simply too far for me to travel if it wasnt a big dollar open show.

We being the drivers?
I think every track north of there pays way more than that, they need to step up the pay to get cars to travel these days, that's a 350+ trip for us

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/08/10 at 8:34am

i understand just trying to get a good size field you know, trying to get people exciting about racing and having fun doing it. WE doesn't have to just be drivers, i believe in the car am directly tied to. Also mike would $3000 to win get you to travel, Imperial has there open comp race in Nov. How bout a little travle, race at a large 3/8th mile fast fast fast. sending a invitiation.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by MikeShepherd on 07/08/10 at 8:51am

Honestly 500-800 would be good enough to travel,we have been wanting to hit perris this year, but 200 makes it really hard to justify.
What's the date on that $3000 to win show

i believe its right after thanksgiving, its the fri, sat after. i know the 3d usally goes and the 04, 14, are there every year. then i know alot of them go to victorville on sunday and race there turkey race as well on the way home. just food for thought. shoot me a PM and i will email you the flyer from last year.

I watched some video from Barona, and it looked like that Bowman-Gray TV show, "we use the car in front of us for brakes" lol

I watched some video from Barona, and it looked like that Bowman-Gray TV show, "we use the car in front of us for brakes" lol

thats pretty much how it is. a lot of it is new drivers to the class that simply havent learned how to handle a much faster car yet. but i expected much more from eric (the 9 car that won the turkey last year). he flat out jumped the berm trying to cut the corner on the first lap and slammed into me. i had some words with him afterwards and of course he profusely apologized and said he was hard on the brakes, which i call bs. until they get the racing cleaned up and more than half the field isnt taken out each race from wrecks, i wont be back.

and andrew, its not sheet metal, i can pound out a new body in an afternoon. its the simple respect for the guy in front of you alot of them dont show. because eric wouldnt give me the respect and allow me to hold my line (and i wasnt off pace either, i was up the ass of the guy in front of me) he really cost me some money. so far i'll have to build at least three new body panels, probably buy two new wheels, hopefully my hub isnt bent, my gears are shot as it stripped the threads out of the pinion mount and chucked the pinion out the front, knocked the seal out the rear of the tranny, destroyed my drive shaft, the pinion mount for the j bar, may have ruined my two way pullbar (the rods are bent) and bent my j bar.

i accept that happening in a spin out, slam into wreck, its racing. but to just get slammed into and broken like that is unacceptable, especially from someone as talented and experienced as he is. racers have long memories.

and my dad doesnt race anywhere else because he isnt interested in racing anywhere else. he helps me and has drive home duties, which i appreciate. el cajon every saturday night for 24 weeks fixed him of wanting to race out of town.

and yes, i plan to be at perris on the 24th.

the sheet metal comment wasn't intended at you, its whats the guy in the heartland thunder said as i was refer to the comment about Bowman-Gray TV show. Believe me i understand why your upset about having to fixed parts and buy new parts. As far as you dad goes that great he helps you so much just wondered if he had a urge to take out that new car again.

yeah, i dont even think he's going to race it in yuma unless el centro doesnt make it past this year. he was getting to be a real grump about racing out of town until i won that race in perris, then his outlook on things kinda changed, lol. brent get that body put on yet?

working on it today. building a new bumper and trying to make the car look a little better haha, its getting there. trying to get a good size turnout up there get people exciting about racing again, wished i had the money to buy a car and race to but i will just stick to turning wrenches, just trying to be a chad knaus lol

i know for sure right now there are 2 pro stock and 1 mod, but i think there are some more coming up just not a 100% sure, the way we go is hwy 86 to the 10 to the 60 to the 215, its only about 2 1/2 hours with a trailer.

wow what a race, most fun we have had a race in a long time. Perris is FIRST CLASS all the way around, such a awsome place to have to race at. The track went dry in the main. Super stocks were the last to race and having what i believe one of the smaller motors in the class we were able to make good chassis adjustments and win the main. I beleive it was some of the best racing that ive seen in a long time. All the classes put on a awsome show. Am letting everyone know that if you haven't ever race there you really really need to go, everything from the track to the racers and the officals were top notch. The car count was a little low i really thought there were be a few more super stocks but they made the best of it. I really hope if you maybe plan on racing there some time soon to make the trip there because i don't think your'll regret it. Also they are like other tracks and need car counts to keep classes around so make a effort to support all the tracks that you can. otherwise in the long run we might not have a place to race.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by valleypro23 on 07/25/10 at 1:07pm

was a great race and had a good time as well. hate to see the car count so low and that there were a couple more cars missing from the super stocks this last race. i agree on the motor as the track just flat went away and i think i burned my RR off trying to close the gap the middle 10 laps. good fun racing tho and always fun to see us valley boys show um how its done, 1 and 2.

nice job,  how bad was the car count?

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/25/10 at 8:17pm

i believe there was only 7 or 8 supers, there was quite a few mods for some reason, and streets was about normal i think. the thing is that there were at least 3 or 4 supers that have been there almost every other race this year but not last night. hopefully raceway videos will have the highlights up sometime soon.

like andrew said, 7 cars. and btw, i got the infamous "checks in the mail" which as of saturday, i still didnt have. people have cars out there, i think the promoters are trying everything they can, i just hope the car counts pick up soon.

the one thing i hate to see is when car counts are super low, guys running all over each other for nothing. i know its racing and some guys have the "rubbing is racing" mind state but be aware of whats going on around you. you have six cars racing, tearing the sh!t out of each other for 200 bucks isnt going to help your car counts. race hard, but race clean, car counts will increase.

very well could be. having one driver run over half the field then not receive any money for getting run over might drive guys off. especially as expensive as these cars can get to rebuild.

on a side note, i hear yuma is supposed to run a turkey race, the indian tribe is insisting it, on the same weekend we have ours. so it appears it will become a bidding war, which i'm pretty sure the indians will win, so god knows what will happen with our turkey race. i hope its not the final nail in the coffin of the most recent edition of imperial valley speedway.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by hogracer3d on 07/25/10 at 9:46pm

Would that have been a local car that did that?, if so I have an idea--lol

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/25/10 at 10:16pm

yeah thats a good point, i thought in all if was pretty fair and decent racing. One thing to is that there are two cars out there that are real tight on a point championship there which us from out of town aren't, they might be fighting a little harder for postion since they are so close in points. But i agree you need to keep cars out there, its better for the racers, the promoters, the offical, and of course the fans the more cars you have. Also russell if you want any more pic i will try to email you a few my sister took quite a few. As far as yuma i wouldn't beleive everything you hear yet. something doesn't seem right about that.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by valleypro23 on 07/25/10 at 10:22pm

well the thing about yuma is they have a casino and i believe hotel near by. they dont care if they lose money on the racing as long as they feel they can make it up on casino traffic. if they want a turkey race because they think they can bring traffic over during a very important consumer weekend, they won't even blink to offer another 2k to win. 5k to win over 3k to win is a no brainer for for guys traveling. and if they are targeting people traveling, 2k is easy to make up with just a couple family's in the casino... just an observation.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/25/10 at 10:37pm

you nailed it on the head. the thing that scares me is that if they don't see a increase that they think is noticable they will just drop the whole thing and if for some reason we no longer race in imperial and yuma goes away for some reason as well what do us local racers have to choose from. Also there rules for the pro stocks really need some changing to make them work, they would have to do and open comp show to pull and good amount of cars. i really really bleive this year at our turkey race we can get a large turnout of cars with a little more advertising and letting people know its out there. i guess time will tell, do you plan on going there in sept or going back to perris.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by valleypro23 on 07/25/10 at 10:51pm

i really dont know what my plans are for the next few months. i'm usually super busy with work and its always a last minute thing. i dont know that i'll race yuma the 11th and i certainly wont race the week before we start up again in imperial. but then again, supporting local tracks is the best way to get cars in return, so who knows.

and i dont think the indian tribe would spend as much money as they already have to just give up on it after a few months of not seeing profits. the thing is, they own the track so they only have to reason in the mortgage to the profitable of racing. if they paid for the ground outright, then they can choose to race much cheaper. they will be able to make ends meet or darn near just at the race track and the traffic they get to the casino is simply gravy. i'm not going to not support yuma as i'm afraid of what the future is with our own racetrack.

Title: Re: perris july 24th
Post by propit21 on 07/25/10 at 11:17pm

yeah i guess support whatever closet and what support us. i hope yuma and imperial work. i don't know if you heard but they are having a member meeting thrus. the 29th at the BBQ guy to go over where we are as a association and where to go from here. It doesn't look like the fair board is going to give any help but if you want to talk about any of that we will in a private message. Good job last night by the way, its funny both you and brent spun out but finished 1 and 2.

Post by Smith3d on 07/26/10 at 5:12pm

I hope they don't pull cars from Imperial as that is one of the races we look fprward to every year. Big, wide , fast, and pays good if you can win it. I know right now  we are planning on being there for sure.

Pretty much #3000, no quick change, and 9" racing tire,  thats about it.

They only run us 1 time per year, so the rules will be on the Turkey Classic flyer, out in a couple of months

They ran them full time until 2005, when they dropped the division.

Gear selection is from 6.0 to 7.33 depending on what you want to turn, most run 7.0
