Cody didn't give up his motor so he is fined $2,000 and suspended by IMCA for 30 days.

I guess he will have to race the two $3,500 to win shows to pay his fine.

He better win em. lol

Title: Re: claim at ocean?

Yes I got claimed.

There was a rumor going around that I was going to get claimed.
Its an IMCA rule so I understood if it was going to happen.
How it came about was completely wrong though. The guy that claimed me came into my pits before the races started and told me he wasn't going to claim me and that it was all just a rumor, but he was planning on claiming someone. Shook my hand and said you have my word.

I had no problem at all if the claim was done right if the guy had come out with something competitive and claim me. But what he came out with wasn't.
He did 2 laps in the heat and pulled off. Was going a lap down in the main but spun himself out to cause a caution and stay on the lead lap. I don't have anything else to run in my car so I couldn't do a swap or give it up. So I had to refuse.

So what happens now? What if you don't pay the fine?

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by Cody Burke on 07/31/10 at 2:01pm

I'm not allowed to race at an imca event until I pay the fine and sit out 30 days.

But something was overlooked last night though. Something should be posted soon...

Who was the claiming car?
If I remember right someone clamed a few years ago there ,so they could have Vegas motor in Nov.

I believe it was the #00... Richard Kelson? Wasn't the last motor claim  against Clay Daly??? If so I believe he gave up the motor on that one.

Title: Re: claim at ocean?

Richard Keldson. I believe he has race 5 times this year.

Title: Re: claim at ocean?

That sucks, it would be nice if you had to be top ten in points or something like that. I'm guessing you won't be using that brake pedal around him to much.lol

Come over to the nice warm valley and race. Aint no stinkin claiming here or as Ray put it a "clam". Thought thats what you put in chowder.LOL

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by Cody Burke on 07/31/10 at 6:59pm

Thank you very much hogracer3d and Team 3D.

The claim was reversed because according to imca rules you have to run the previous two point races and he did not run one of those.
So all the calls were reversed and the fine was taken away.

Thank you hogracer3d and everyone else.

We would like to still donate the $100, so you can buy ya a new tire or something.

so would you say it was a "junk yard" motor that he was running?

glad the claim got reversed

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by Cody Burke on 08/01/10 at 3:53pm

Definitely. I guess it even had an hydraulic cam in it. He flat out told everyone he was just coming out to claim a motor and that he took out the one he normally runs to do so.

Title: Re: claim at ocean?

glad it backfired

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by hogracer3d on 08/01/10 at 3:58pm

that is the problem with the whole claim deal, that it used for something other than its intended purpose

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by formercrewguy on 08/01/10 at 4:40pm

I was always under the impression you had to be a top 5 car to claim. Must have heard it wrong. I bet this guy won't get voted "most popular driver" anytime soon....lol

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by Cody Burke on 08/01/10 at 4:54pm

Yeah I wish that was the rule. But all you have to do is run the previous 2 points races at that track and finish on the lead lap. If you can do that you can claim anyone in the 4.
He will be back to do the same thing next race. Should be fun.

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by Watchin15B on 08/01/10 at 5:01pm

Well that sucks glad it was over turned for now, at least one of the rules was helpful in the claim area for you!! I guess someone may have to make sure he doesn't finish on the lead lap, i'm just sayin!!  8-)

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by JC12 on 08/01/10 at 5:23pm

well i don`t care if he got clammed or not.. But this is why IMCA doesn`t work out here.. You have 3 tracks that are IMCA, And i liked the class and everyone knows when they walk in the gate its a claim class in IMCA !!!!! But here`s my point to this.. Now days you have a bunch of guys all running 400, 421, 433m engines, who goes to the races to win the money they put up for it untill they get claimed and say no,, well we all know a true IMCA races doesnt run this kind of engine, so now a true IMCA races isn`t competitive at his own races that he knows is a claim class... Now with only 3 IMCA tracks and 10 none IMCA tracks to go race at,, so you go take all the bigger money from winning there till the game comes to you then you move on.. I have been claimed 3 times when it was only $325, and no trade, and yes it hurts,, but i gave them up cause that was the rule.... Now to clear it up i`m totaly not for engine claims at all because we all know if you want to make a true IMCA motor its still $3500,00 to do one that will finish.... I can also tell you I will not claim a engine from anyone .. If I can`t make my car run fasst enough to win with in the rules then I don`t need someone elses stuff I need to work harder.... Or do what I do most of the time.. i` not going to spend $8500.00 or more dollars to run with all the 421. 433 engines, to give away in a claim so what do I do I just don`t go to IMCA races even though i really want to run at these tracks.. the only way IMCA WILL WORK IN CALIFORNIA IS IF ALL TRACKS ARE IMCA and then if you refuse a claim you can`t race at any track ever !!!!! so forget the claims and go racing.. I like IMCA rules cause there the same all over.. but again you will always have someone who will spend the money to win weather they play completely buy IMCA rules or not..... It`s like all this talk about SPORT MOD OUT HERE, I think the sport mod is a good class, but you will still get the same people winning in it, then you will also get the same guys who will spend the money do more till they get caught taking your IMCA money till they refuse a claim.. So i have had a idea for the claim rule for years, but no one will listen, and I also dont think that just the 1st four cars should be the claimed cars. I think everyone in the A MAIN should be on the claim so the hole field plays the game, and not punish the 1st four cars for working on there cars to win races.. because you and I know allot of you dont work on your car till friday night or sat morning, and some of use work on ours 7 days a week to win,,,  Well i`m tired of one finger typing now, and thats my 2 cene on the claims,, just do something about it or drop it...
Joe

I do not believe claims are evill  I believe this individual clamer is.   the purpose is not to update your equipment   but to try and keep people honest and somewhat level.   this clown should be voted off the island   or at least given a few bumpers to show how everyone feels about his ill advized plan.  what a jacka$$

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by TEAM5C on 08/05/10 at 10:00pm

i think if there were more people that claimed that would bring down the cost of all the expensive motors!!

now with that being said i think imca should have a spec motor option like wissota has.  that gives a guy some relief that he wont get claimed at the end of the night.

That sounds like a hell of idea.  A 604 crate motor and you are exempt from claiming, I like it............(what motor does Wissota use ??)

Title: Re: claim at ocean?
Post by mach5RacerX on 08/06/10 at 11:40am

the 604 crate would be a great motor. put it back in the hands of the driver and his or her ability to set up the car. its around $5000 for a 604 sealed from GM or one of the certified rebuilders. thats less $ for a motor then 90% of whats out there. there also  good for two seasons of racing. put everyone on the same motor and the cream will rise to the top. not the team with the most motor and $
