Title: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 11/13/10 at 11:40am Have been hearing that they are changing the hobby stock class at Antioch to a Street Stock class. Also they are going to have a class called strictly stocks.Anybody else heard anything? Also heard no more crate motors? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by enduroracer06 on 11/16/10 at 11:08am Ya I heard the new Strickly Stock class too. I am thinking that they are going to be close to Enduro Cars. Have not seen any rules yet. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 11/20/10 at 11:19am Website says new rules will be posted soon?Just how soon would be my next question? If im going to build a new car for next season the sooner i know the rules the better.Any information would be greatly appricated. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by TiiGuy2002 on 11/20/10 at 9:07pm Lotsa rumors, nothing official... heard the current HS will be called Street Stocks, will be allowed to run Ford 9 inch rears, nothing heard on the Crate motors leaving though. Current Street Socks will be renamed Super Streets, new class will be Pure Stocks..... full bodies with the interior gutted, roll bar installed, single legger rear ends.....factory stock. I agree about the rules being posted asap. The time it takes to build, save money, and budget etc. Hopefully sooner than later as the case usually has been.lol |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by BakoBoyzRacing on 11/21/10 at 10:34pm The best thing for the Street Stocks / Super Streets is to go to the West Coast Street Stock Rules...sooner than later ALL of Cali will be using these rules: http://www.racesantamariaspeedway.com/ruleswestreetstocks.php California Street Stock All-Star Shootout will use the WCSS Rules in 2011 |

Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/05/10 at 1:03pm Check out rules link on Antioch website 2011 Hobby Rules Antioch/Merced Item#10 engine rules No Crate Motors, Description of class begining rules Run for trophies no monies. More to follow. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/05/10 at 1:45pm well that was a short racing career for me. I have a crate car race ready but a rule change will not allow me to race. That sucks :( I guess Ill have to find a new hobby for saturday nights Cause I wont be racing :-/ Brad Myers |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/05/10 at 2:38pm It does not make sense to invest more money into something with no return. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/05/10 at 3:04pm I wouldn't mind building a motor.... If i knew the rules would be good for more than ONE SEASON! I now understand why the supers only had an average of 4 cars for the first half of the season. Im sure the economy had something to do with it, but changing the rules every year doesnt help. I guess it is what it is and Ill deal with it 8-) |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by the foot 12 on 12/06/10 at 8:10am brad maybe you should think of a new track like marysville raceway park it has a good pay in the classs and hell so many antioch cars have been coming up here and we have a new hobbie class in 2011 paul works with u if u want to race just my thought |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/06/10 at 9:46am If I can't race at antioch anymore thats what i might have to do. ::) Brad |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by the foot 12 on 12/07/10 at 10:37am hell theres at lease 8 former antioch drivers at mrp due to the bull at antioch at mrp rules are simple and u know what the purse is every week and its not to bad either oh one more thing paul at mrp pays what he says no cuts in purse because he didnt like the car count |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 38aRacer on 12/10/10 at 11:37am Oh well cant please 'em all . Some guys and gals were bitchin' about the crate motors. Now they're gone. Now the crate guys are pissed... where does it end. Rules changes, either way, racers get screwed and so does car count for a while at least. Same ole Same ole . By the way, our Hobby is screwed either way, so yes, I do have a dog in this fight. ::) |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/11/10 at 10:39am Better hold off on building those new cars hear that the Fairboard is considering leasing the track area to Bart for parking. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Missle Motorsports on 12/11/10 at 2:55pm I've heard that same Rumor for about 8-years Now. Any New Truth to It, or just same old Info? How long is John's Current Lease for? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Perry25 on 12/11/10 at 4:58pm The Bart Parking lot will probably be an eventuallity since bart will be running on the tracks just south of the property. John's contract.. I think he is 2 years into a 5 year???? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by dirtracer92 on 12/13/10 at 3:18pm Why tell the crates they can't run. There must be a better solution. Why not make them add weight or get a restrictor plate? :-? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/14/10 at 4:31pm Why not just open them up to the claim rule, then for $1000 plus your motor you get a crate motor? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by truthteller on 12/19/10 at 9:08am Lat year produced multiple main event winners in the Hobby stock division. That seems to be a success. The crate motors seem to be very reliable, keeping the cost per race down. . Some of the racers have over 100 races on the crates with no major repair costs. The crates seem to keep the car count high due to the reliability and low maintenence. Can someone please explain the reasoning behind eliminating the crate motors? Isn't a high car count the goal of the track? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/19/10 at 11:09am Because certain individuals started making illegal modifications to the crate motors giving them even more of an advantage over the built motors. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by truthteller on 12/19/10 at 1:39pm Wouldn't it make more sense to enforce the rules? If the crate motors are being modified, do a more thorough tech inspection. Isnt the goal of the track to keep the car count up in order to generate revenue? How about putting a track seal on all crates after a thorough inspection? I did not see anyone dominating the 2010 season. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/21/10 at 5:18pm TruthTeller i've got to tell you the truth. Its been reported to the EPA that the crate motors were causing holes in the o-zone so John was told to eliminate them.Must have been that nitrous. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/21/10 at 6:47pm Hey Mike, Ill put a smog pump and cats my crate it if they'll let me run it ;D Now that the rules are out what are your plans? any races @ Antioch? Maybe Ill make some road trips with you to crate friendly tracks. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/22/10 at 3:48pm I know for sure will run an Orland race or two.I'm sure you can run your crate there. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by double_a on 12/22/10 at 3:55pm arcracer wrote on 12/05/10 at 1:03pm:
I would re-check and see if that quoted section is under the Engine Rules, or Engine Claim........ |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/22/10 at 4:21pm The item #10 is under engine claim. The crates have always been exempt from the claim, whats your point? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/22/10 at 4:33pm Mike, I think what Double_A is saying is that you said line item 10 (no crates) is under engine rules, But line item 10 is actually under engine claim rules. So you are right, that is something we already know. Double_a pointed out that the no crate rule is not worded right if soares is getting rid of the crates. Its possible that they are just not subject to claim still....... Who knows what the real deal is. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/22/10 at 4:41pm Well i guess as it says on the website new rules coming out soon.I have a dollar if any one wants to make a wager there will be no crates in the new rules.Any takers? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/22/10 at 4:47pm * = CHANGES IN RULES I didn't see a * next to line item 10 :P But I didnt see an asterisk next to ANY rule changes. I'm with you mike. I think its bye bye crates. |

Look for the crates to be @ antioch for at least one more season. Sorry Mike ;) |

Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 12/27/10 at 5:27pm I really appreciate that Mike but dont have the time and money to build a new engine. the crate works fine and if I cant run it, I wont be racing. Thank you anyways! If you need help with anything you have my number. See ya in the spring. |

Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/30/10 at 11:56am Hey Brad33 this just in, new rules are now being posted on Antioch's website. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 12/31/10 at 9:08am I have been checking every day, I dont see any new updates. What new rules are being posted? Trying to get a car ready. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 12/31/10 at 9:26am Call Raulie Rodrigues he's got John's phone number. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/02/11 at 8:52am Just checked Antioch's site they've removed the last post from 12/18/2010.Looks like they maybe posting something more current, stay tuned have heard some rumors about no leaf cars in the hobby division. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/04/11 at 3:58pm No leafs in the hobby division? Really? In my opinion the rules they to keep costs down are doing exactly the opposite! This is what they should do with the hobby stocks if they decide to leave the super stock division as-is. They should allow aluminum dual plane intakes, std. length or shorty headers, (get rid of cast iron exh manifolds) 2bbl carbs with 4 bbl adapters, solid lifter or hydraulic camshafts, roller tip rockers (no shafts) std. or 9" rear ends, beadlock ok on rt rear, track tires or dot tires ok. It would end up costing less money and these parts are more readilly available in most cases. If anyone is in doubt, just check the current pricing for a Brzezinski 2bbl cast intake and ram horn exh. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by RACING404 on 01/04/11 at 4:03pm chad what are you building? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/04/11 at 4:36pm I currently have 2 tweener (in-between classes) camaro's. Trying to make 1 good competetive legal car. They came 9" rear ends, American racer track tires, a couple of beadlocks, & spare track tires. Car ran great at open show last October. I may only be able to run open shows if dont hear anything soon. Feb is short month, and track message says they are starting in early March. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/05/11 at 8:10pm Chad try calling Raulie from Merced or send him a PM and ask him how to get ahold of John. You might be able to talk to Walt at Antioch Parts Depot and he could get a message to him. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/06/11 at 8:50am Thanks, I will send Raulie a pm. I talked to Walt a couple of times before he closed up Parts Depot, and he said that John wasn't even getting back to him very much. Thanks again, |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/07/11 at 5:32pm Maybe Raulie will be able to help. The rules say stock rearends, let me know i've got several rearends and alot of other camaro stuff. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by RACING404 on 01/08/11 at 11:31am just heard this year it will be hobbies, super hobbies and limited late models. rules will be out soon. guys with crates can run with super hobbies |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/08/11 at 2:30pm There you go brad33 you dont have to use that crate for a boat anchor. Now you can be a super hobby??Or a super hubby?? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 38aRacer on 01/08/11 at 8:58pm Whats a super hobby? I hope there's one in my shop already. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/08/11 at 10:47pm Its some creation of the speedway. 2 motor options. A 602, 4 bbl, and headers, or a built motor. 11:1, stock heads, no camel humps or fuelies, hyd flat tappet cam, ford 9 inch, 7 inch tires I think Im going to try to race in the "regular" hobby stock class. with my luck I would only be racing in a "super hobby" with maybe a few cars because race season is around the corner and no one has even heard of this class untill today when a few of us ran into John at the swap meet. I gotta sell this 602 first though. Some big changes are coming to the supers as well.... |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 38aRacer on 01/09/11 at 6:30am Thanks for the info Brad. Since we redid an old school streeter, I'm sure we will fall in the super hobby class. The Super Hobby class would be a great opportunity for those old 10.5:1 S/S engines and chassis to get utilized at a minimal cost. Great idea! Big changes to Supers... its that time of year. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/09/11 at 3:45pm Brad i'm not sure if i believe the ran into him at the swap meet story?I think you and John have been working behind the scene on this Super Hobby deal for awhile. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by RACING404 on 01/09/11 at 5:14pm that's funny mike, but,i guess your going tell me that i did'nt run in to either.lol all i know is the super hobbys sounds fun and affordable |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/09/11 at 5:34pm arcracer wrote on 01/09/11 at 3:45pm:
LOL! Mike, you and your conspiracy theory :D well here is your chance to own a crate for a fraction of the price! buy mine. Ill give you a deal by delivering it for free. ;) |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/09/11 at 6:15pm How about i'll pay you to deliver it and the crate motors free?Have you and John deciced what your going to pay the Super hobbies? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/10/11 at 4:00pm I have heard nothing other than the basic stuff I posted already. Any other drivers think this class might appeal to them? or their car? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/10/11 at 5:14pm I am very excited about the news, hoping I can still use the track tires that came with car and racing rims. Give the LLM cars back their own class. Not sure if I have a hobby stock or a super hobby yet, Have to see what rules say. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/10/11 at 5:53pm Brad & Chad till i see it in print on the website i'm not buying any new stuff for some class that exist soley on hearsay.Who knows somebody may run into John at Walmart this week and have a new hybrid hobby division he's talking about. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/10/11 at 6:07pm Amen Mike. But a super hobby would fit me because I would not need any parts, I just hope the division has a car count. I would be suprised if it had more than 6 cars the first few weeks. Actually Ill make a prediction, based off nothing more than a pure guess 4 cars the first night average for the season would be 7 cars A season high of 10 I hope to see more than that, but thats my best guess. If I dont sell this crater ill be playing with them |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by dirtracer92 on 01/11/11 at 9:33am I would be interested in taking a few of my Placerville guys (on our off nights) there to run super hobby if there ends up being minor changes only needed to convert our Placerville pure stocks. If it's a lot of work we will wait for the run what you brung open show. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 38aRacer on 01/11/11 at 7:09pm 5 pages of hearsay and he said she saids, crazy. Get the rules out already ....geez. ::) |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/12/11 at 8:45am ...And a schedule too! |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/12/11 at 3:51pm If anyone runs into John rules, schedule, and a date for the awards banquet are resonable request. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/12/11 at 7:27pm Did that saturday @ the stockton swap meet Mike. Rules soon, Banquet - fairboard did not reserve a spot, so he is looking but cant find any open for a saturday night, and schedule was almost done. Thought you were traveling this year anyways :P |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/14/11 at 12:19pm Antioch speedway had a new schedule posted... Why does it say 2009 and the dates and classes don't add up? Checked against 2011 calendar thought maybe type-o, but doesn't work unless we are really racing Mon nights Mar 21st and 28th. Mon night races might be fun though... ;D |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Perry25 on 01/14/11 at 1:02pm it looks like the 2009 schedule to me..... |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/14/11 at 3:54pm Hey Brad why dont you talk to John and see if He would present the trophies opening night in the infield. That way the fans can see the drivers get their trophies? Also no one has to put out any extra dough for a banquet. As far as our race schedule its going to be very few races,a few at Antioch,a few at Orland, and maybe a race or two at Fernley.I thougt you were selling the crate and sticking with the non hybrid hobby division? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/14/11 at 5:25pm If I can sell the crate, I would like to stick with the hobbies, If i cant sell it, Ill use it in the crate friendly class. Throw a 4 bbl and headers on that b**ch and go racing....And I only spoke with John when I ran into him at stockton. I know you think John and I are BFFs but I dont know how to get a hold of him to tell him about your idea :D |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/15/11 at 9:41am Waldo has spoken check antioch's website they've posted a schedule, have rules for one of the eight divisions they will be running, and have posted a date and time for the banquet. Yes it looks like the Hybrid Hobby Division is on the schedule. No super Stocks. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by BakoBoyzRacing on 01/15/11 at 9:57am NO Super Stocks this year at Antioch?????? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by bb49mod on 01/15/11 at 10:47am Super Stocks are now Limited Latemodels |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/15/11 at 10:48am Go on Antioch's website and check their schedule. They have hobby's and a new hybrid class called super hobby, which they have not posted rules for yet. From the rumors i've heard it sounds like it maybe a street stock class.Just waiting for rules to be posted for a classes.Looks like 8 divisions running this season 4 run for trophies only 4 pay a yet to be determined purse. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 38aRacer on 01/16/11 at 9:06am Says the rules are online but I cant find them or a link, probably needs to republish the site for the changes to take effect. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/16/11 at 10:00am Hey Brad33 was looking for a crate motor for the super hobby class how much are you selling yours for? |

Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by Brad33 on 01/16/11 at 10:49am Haha Just messing with ya Mike, $2300 and you can race your beast with the super hobbies. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/16/11 at 10:54am It wont be in the 56 car i'm looking at a new car. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by over4t on 01/16/11 at 11:37am John told me at Stockton swap that Super Stock rules won't change this year. Car count will probably still stink and be just the point chasers as they make you join even to run 1 or 2 shows. The good news is that has been reduced from $120 last year to only(?) $90 this year and will also be good for Merced. We've run a few shows there every year and I almost gagged the first time we went last year and it cost my son and I $310 to get in to run for a couple hundred bucks to win. Don't think we'll be back this year unless they have an open show or so. Beware travelers!! |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 36dfan on 01/16/11 at 5:10pm Are you saying they won't let you run as a guest the first couple of times? Guess I'll have to cross them off my list of places to go this year if that doesn't change. Doug |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/16/11 at 5:21pm Brad are they just selling the banquet tickets at the door this year? There's no listed address or phone number for tickets. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by over4t on 01/16/11 at 5:28pm 36Dfan, yep that's the deal. Started that stuff in 2010. They used to give you a one or two race grace period. For guys like us that aren't interested in points it isn't worth it. We like the track and most of the guys we run with down there but 120 miles each way to run for lousy pay that we always have to chase for a couple months to get takes the fun out of it. We travel quite a bit and sure don't expect to make money doing it. We stay closer to home other times and run for decent $ at Marysville or Chico, tracks that put your check in the mail by the following Wednesday. And Antioch wonders why they don't get more occasional racers like us. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by chevy68pickup on 01/17/11 at 6:09am Now is Jon going to make sure the people who race in the Super Hobby class wont race in the Hobby class? |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by 36dfan on 01/17/11 at 8:31am Over4t, Thanks for the info. Were the same way, like to travel and don't race for points or to make money but were also a team on a tight budget. I was hoping to run Antioch a couple of times with thier Late Model rules very close to Placervilles, catch it on a off night and I wouldn't have to change much to run but not at that price. Maybe will see in you Chico or at MRP at one of the opens. Have a great season. Doug |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by over4t on 01/17/11 at 8:52am 36dfan, Don' know about membership fees for the non-regular classes at Antioch. If you're running a late model, vintage coupe, etc. that fee MAY not apply. Don't want to mislead anyone. Best bet is to call their office at 925/779-9220 and leave a message and see if you can find out.. The difficulty getting paid still applies. They normally pay the next time you come back, be it next week or next year. Same problem with Merced. If you run a super stock best bet is Marysville with $500 to win and $100 to start. Have a good season. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by CHAD HAMMER on 01/17/11 at 9:27am I am excited and looking forward to the new season!! I think a super hobby class or street stock class will be awesome. There probably wouldnt be any reason why on a "off" night for hobby stock class thay couldn't bump up to race in the super hobby class. Some of the more experienced hobby drivers are good drivers, so they would probably do well even if they had tighter engine rules. Limited Late Models have their own class again. That should make for some faster racing. |
Title: Re: New Rules at Antioch Post by arcracer on 01/17/11 at 10:12am The rule mystery continues? The website says limited late model and super hobby rules posted online but they are not on Antioch's website.Brad help us out here do the new rules have their own another site page? One other question is john mailing ticket request forms for the banquet to the drivers or are we supposed to just show up on 02/27/2011 at the door and buy tickets.Waldo speak to me!!! |
