Title: perris or vv street stock rules
Post by propit21 on 02/09/11 at 5:03pm

have a question for guys that run street stock not super stocks at perris or vv since the rules are the same.
we have a friend that has a street stock that races at cocopah and used to be raced at imperial. we plan on racing perris in our super stock and he would like to come with us and race his street stock. ive looked at the rules and there are a few questonable things that differ.
1. he runs after market dual master cylinder and pedal but are not driver adjustable is that ok?
2.he runs a stock intake manifold is that ok?
3. he runs double hump heads stock is that ok?
4. he has stock replacment headers is that ok?
5. also has american racer tire but are DOT marked is that legal?

he only race a total of 4 times now so still could be consider a rookie driver, the car is a monte carlo with stock body. he just want to race a few races up there with us when we go so i would like to know a little more info so if we have to change anything or if it would be to much to race. thanks

aftermarket pedals - no
stock intake - maybe, i wouldnt see why not.
double humps ok, as long as the valves, springs and rockers ect are legal.
headers of any kind - no
a/r tires - no.

this is how i understand the rules... but the tracks may offer a grace period to comply. you would have to ask them direct.

It is a no on the stock intake as well.  The rules specify edelbrock torker II or performer intake.

The heads are legal if they have 1.5 and 1.94 valves and 1.25 dia springs. Screw in studs and guide plates are allowed.

One of the drivers tried the DOT hoosiers 5 or so years ago.  He used them for one race, kicked everyones ars and the tires were not allowed after that.

I hope he decides to come run with us.

just wondering why would a stock intake not be legal?

From the Perris website...

INTAKE: Torker II, 2101 performer, or 2116 Vortec performer intake manifold only. No cast iron. No modification of any kind allowed.

I would give them a call.  They might allow everything but the tires (might even allow the tires for all I know) for a race or two.  I know that a couple of barona cars have raced at perris in the past and barona allows headers and uses cast iron intakes (don't know for sure that they had those things though).

yeah i can understand that rule but it just seem fun that something stock isn't allowed. i think he only plan on racing a few races. i looked at the rules for cocopah to and its says stock production cast iron or aluminum intake so not quit sure what that means.

i see why running sanction body are a growing thing when you travel to different tracks you don't have to change your car.

Most of the things you asked about are not stock (dual master cyl, headers, American Racer tires).

The stock heads are legal if they are not ported and have stock components (valves, springs).

My understanding behind the intake rule, which is common for this type of class, is to limit cost.  Originally the rules read "any cast iron intake".  Then people started spending $100s on special marine intakes so they settled on the ~$100 edelbrock intakes.  Easy to tech, relatively easy on the wallet, and good performance.

Like I said, I hope we see you out there.

oh i hope you didn't get the wrong impression not complaining about the rules i think you guys got one of the best street stock classes in the west and car counts show that. i was just stating about the manifold and not everythig else. i hope he can run to, i think the hardest thing to change will be the brakes. but we will see. thanks for the information.

PAS & VRP both use the West Coast Street Stock Rules for the Pro Stocks-Super Stocks better known as Street Stocks  :D

PAS & VRP call their Hobby Stocks, street stocks

I think everyone needs to get the names right  ;D
camero looking cars = Hobby Stock
late model look alike = Street Stock (WCSS)

i don't think so, there was just to much to do on the two cars for this race. he would have to change some stuff and time wasn't on our side. maybe the next one, the superstock 21 will be there.
