Marysville Raceway Park will be opening their doors this Saturday night, March 5th, for their season opener and biggest event of the year. MRP is the oldest independently owned short dirt track going on its forty-first year of continuous action.

The biggest 360 Sprint Car drivers of the North West are expected to make their appearance for the Sherm Toller Memorial. The distance is set at thirty laps with $2,500 on the line.

Already pre-registered is three time champions Colby Wiesz and Brent Dothage. Fan favorite Andy Gregg will also be in competition with former Civil War Champion Mike Henry and Mike Saber Jr expected to take part. Other big names include high-flyin’ Herman Klein, Jim Richardson, Nick McCulloch, the Hawaiians Shawn and Brandon Temora, 2009 Rookie of the Year Garry Burdick, five time champion Korey Lovell, Andy Forsberg, Willie Croft and Mike Monahan. Twenty-five other drivers have entered into the event with California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington being represented.

2007 Marysville Raceway Park Champion Jeremy Burt and ASCS stud Steven Tiner will carry the checkered flags around MRP in a tribute to Sherm Toller.

Sherm passed away in April of 2009 and was the infield announcer for Marysville Raceway Park. His wife, Loree, still works their today as a scorer.

Before he joined Marysville in 1995, Sherm announced at Grass Valley’s Ernier Purssell Speedway in the 80’s and 90’s. Sherm was a huge supporter of the “sprinters with boards on top” and overall sprint enthusiast traveling the West Coast to catch the biggest shows.

Joining the 360 Winged Sprint Cars will be Wingless Sprints for the Wingless Warrior Shootout and Pro 4’s.
