Title: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Hit n run on 08/12/11 at 3:51pm It says on the website schedule that you must run 2 previous calender races to be able to run in this show?So that means any outside competition is not welcome?Or anyone who wants to dust off the car that's been in the garage and get the last race in and maybe pocket a few dollars can't come either?I do not understand this philosophy? Can someone from the Speedway please explain the exclusive club mentality? |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Brad33 on 08/12/11 at 7:53pm Im not with the speedway, or know anything about where this rule came from but Im guessing its to keep some of the "limited late models" (antioch super stocks ) or "Super hobbies" from running with the hobby stocks. Keep it kinda fair. I dont think its meant to keep other track cars away from this race. I know thats how its worded , but I dont think thats what they mean, JMO Brad Myers |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Hit n run on 08/14/11 at 2:45pm Talked with John last night and he wants to keep the run what you brung open to only people that run the weekly shows at Antioch. |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Brad33 on 08/15/11 at 9:01pm that sucks...Looks like your out then :P |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Gasit on 08/16/11 at 10:47am So someone can put an aluminum fuel injected 410 sprint car engine in a hobby stock and it would be ok? |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Hit n run on 08/16/11 at 7:36pm John stated he did not want to see any drivers come in from another track and take the money.Guess he does not have much faith in his own weekly schedule drivers go heads up with outside competition? |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Cal SS All-Star Shootout on 08/16/11 at 9:48pm Guess some promoters like small car counts :-? |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by dirtracer8 on 08/17/11 at 10:35pm all tracks are having small car counts but this doesnt surprise me though just another promotor wanting to be all by himself and john is one of the worst in this state in my opinion how long before he starts another division that he dont have drivers for |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by Hit n run on 08/18/11 at 8:59pm Its a shame that a so called open show is closed to other tracks drivers. It should be called the run what i say race. |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by 03 on 09/28/11 at 8:45am He should let the Merced guys go! The SS/LLM are pretty eqaul as is most hobbies! JMO! |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by the foot 12 on 09/28/11 at 5:43pm wow an open show closed to all racers? how does a track make any money that way? in these times you think the more cars the merrier thats jmo. makes it better for all the antioch regulars to have no compatition and to think i was going to bring my mrp mini stock down there to take the money i guess i will go to the fernley 2 day show where all racers are welcome with a good pay out too |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by mikemerced on 09/29/11 at 9:15am Official Response from Oval Motorsports: 1.) This event was never listed as Open Competition. It was meant from the beginning as a fun time for the drivers and car owners who support our two tracks. 2.) We are committed to rewarding the drivers and car owners that support us. This will become even more evident next season. 3.) Criticism from anonymous sources below is unwarranted. It is easy to say things without attaching your real name to them. 4.) FACTS: Antioch and Merced Speedways, to our knowledge, are the most successful tracks in California at this time. We feel we have had good crowds in bad times, and our car count as GROWN over the season. Smart business decisions have helped us survive when others have not. 5.) Call us a club - Yes, we require membership. An Oval Motorsports license will allow you to race at our tracks at a discount. Our racers at Merced and Antioch are welcome at both "Run what You Brung" events. They are not "Open Competition". They are for our drivers only, that is why there is two event participation requirement. Sorry if any of you were mis-informed. 6.) Things will be bigger and better for our drivers next season as we continue to grow and develop our own circuit with uniform rules and divisions at our tracks. This will benefit drivers and racing in Central California in the seasons to come. If you are a driver who supports our tracks, we thank you. "Run What You Brung" is for YOU and OUR fans. - Oval Motorsports |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by arcracer on 09/30/11 at 4:16pm This comes from John he said that he did not want to open it up to drivers from other tracks and Bakersfield was the one he mentioned by name coming and taking the purse money south down highway 99. Its his joint he can open or close the doors to anybody he wants. If he does not have a good car count for this show then its his own doing. Its looking like a strong possibilty of rain most of next week anyways. So maybe a power with a little more authority than john may have the final word on who does not race that night. |
Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by arcracer on 10/06/11 at 4:30pm Looks like that higher power won this one no run what you brung!!! |

Title: Re: Antioch Run What You Brung!!! Post by arcracer on 10/13/11 at 7:13pm Looks like the weather is finally going to allow this to happen. Good luck to all the drivers. |
