So this coming weekend april 14th will be my first time on the dirt. New car, no seat time at all. Will i be able to get on the track at all before im racing? what should i expect?

Should get a few laps packing the track and a couple of hot laps, neither of which will tell you much. Best thing for a newbie is to start last in every race you're in and watch what the cars in front of you are doing and just get some laps and get comfortable. Relax and try to have fun and stay out of the way. Good luck.

Like the previous post said mud packing and hot laps won't tell you much. Heat races will be your first test. Don't drive over your head, use the first week or two to work the bugs out that new car and most importantly HAVE FUN.

Come by the 18 car and introduce yourself...always enjoy putting a face to a name.

The car has a th350 in it currently. are you guys running th350's or saginaw? i was told we could run the three speed but i havnt been out yet to check out some other cars to see what guys like to run. Besides the obvious weight and free'd up horse power is there any other advantage to the stadard?

The 3 speed trans weighs more then the th350. People don't remember that the fly wheel weighs more then the flex plate and the clutch and pressure plate with the fly wheel might weigh more then the converter. Plus you have to have a scatter shield with the 3 speed. There are people who like the standered trans over the automatic and the other way around. It's what ever you like the most and what you can get to work the best for you.

what is all this rain going to do to us for this weekend? whats it take to get rained out? i hope we can still go play! ive got brand new paint... need to see if i cant rub some of it off... ;D

Wydopen58 there are pluses and minuses to both automatic and manual trans...manual provides some compression assistance under braking and less rotating weight . For someone starting out the automatic is onething less to have have to remember during race conditions. Whats more critical is being sure your final drive ratio matches the engine rpm to torque curve of your cam. We have 2 cars one set up each way and both have been succesful.

Brad sorry to burst your bubble but (at least for now) I won't be in a hobby..Megan's going to drive the 18. At some point we may have both cars out. With Chad Chadwicks help finished setup on the sportmod yesterday, looking forward to driving it.
