Title: Re: HOW MUCH FLUID TO PUT IN POWERGLIDE Post by Missle Motorsports on 09/06/12 at 9:06pm Direct Drive P.G. with Stock Pan, 4-qts is Correct. Bushore Trans says Cooler is Not needed. If you do run a Cooler, make sure & add extra fluid to cover what the Coolers capacity is. Also don't mount the Cooler with the Inlets pointed downward, or when trans sits when not in use,the extra fluid will drain back into the pan & usually has a tendancy to leak. |
Title: Re: HOW MUCH FLUID TO PUT IN POWERGLIDE Post by dirtracer8 on 09/08/12 at 12:05am i am a tranny builder and no cooler can be done but i would not recomend that extra fluid will just get spit out the vent and make a mess and usuallly will start smoking a little bit because it drips on your exhaust a stock pan with no cooler will probabley overfill you with 4 quarts 3 and a half is more like it no cooler will make your tranny run hotter than your motor therefore you dont get the life that you can get |
Title: Re: HOW MUCH FLUID TO PUT IN POWERGLIDE Post by dirtracer8 on 09/08/12 at 12:08am the best thing to do is get a good filler tube and just check your fluid level if you use one and it leaks it got installed wrong when done right it will not leak |

Title: Re: HOW MUCH FLUID TO PUT IN POWERGLIDE Post by dirtracer8 on 10/18/12 at 8:45pm i would recomend type f fluid dexron oils are made for smooth shifting and to help cool the trans because of lock up converters type f is more agrressive which is better for gripping and less slpping dexron oils are much slicker which leaves more chance of slpping |
