Title: saginaw modifications Post by redbear on 10/30/12 at 9:29pm What has to be done to a lightened saginaw 2 speed to make it accept the long yokes used on a 4 bar mod setup? How difficult is it to make whatever mods that are needed? I have a 6" yoke and it will only go in 3 1/2" before it bottoms out. I am on a budget and no longer have my Brinn, but have a couple 3 spds and couple of 2 spds sags and multi disc clutches, so trying to make something work if I can. |
Title: Re: saginaw modifications Post by Doug_Hagio on 10/31/12 at 4:13pm check to see if the speedo gear is still on the output shaft. The yoke might be hitting it. |
Title: Re: saginaw modifications Post by TALON75 on 11/02/12 at 8:06am Probably have to pull it apart and have the output shaft turned down just after the splines so the yoke will slide thein the whole way . We used to have to do this with the older Brinns, newer ones have more spline to accept the longer yokes . |

Title: Re: saginaw modifications Post by redbear on 12/12/12 at 10:06pm Thanks guys, that is what I am having done right now. I had one with a broken tail shaft housing, so I was able to look inside and see that the speedo gear was not in the way. The shaft just needed to be turned down about 2" farther up the shaft for clearance. When I took my 2 speed apart to have that done, it already had the speedo gear removed when they took 1st gear out. Thanks again guys, saves me some money right now. |
