Chico had 13 cars in SS class Friday with at least 3 regulars, including us, not attending. Jake VanTol, last year's champ, picked up where he left off last year, winning the 1st SS show of '13. Mike Slightom was 2nd, Shawn Smith 3rd, Richard Workman 4th, Gary Newman 5th and Mark Newman 6th. The video and scoreboard showed Phil Marino 2nd and Bill Hall 4th so I assume they got busted in tech. Nice to see some tech again although Phil and Bill might not agree with me.
The class is a real family affair with almost the whole field comprised of father/son teams, again including us. Great bunch of guys to run with and hopefully we'll be out next week if we get our mess back together again after a lot of broken stuff at Marysville a week ago. :P
The 410s had 18 cars with Roger Crockett, from Oregon, winning over Sean Becker' Willie Croft and Andy Forsberg who was fast qualifier.
Six was the car count in each of the other 3 classes with Ron LePlant winning in the Wingless Sprints, Doug Emery in the Economy Sprints and Misty Castleberry in the Mini Stocks. Maybe too many sprint classes? Not much fun racing in such short fields.
