Title: Final Night of Destruction This Saturday at Perris Post by SNR on 08/31/15 at 11:08pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 31, 2015 _______________________________________ FINAL 2015 NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION THIS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY PERRIS, CA (August 31) - The wildly popular “Night of Destruction,” which features Figure 8 Racing, a Figure 8 Trailer Race, Democross and Spectator Racing, returns to Perris Auto Speedway for the fifth time in the 2015 season this Saturday night, September 5th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with the first green flag slated to fall at 7:00 PM and first crash to happen around 7:00:02. Often imitated, but never duplicated, the Nights of Destruction at the famous Riverside County racing facility started small about five years. Only 12-15 cars were at the first one, which drew a decent crowd. This Saturday’s show should see around 40 cars in competition. Like the field of cars, the immensely popular show draws some of the biggest crowds at the track these days. “It just keeps getting better and better,” promoter Don Kazarian said with a smile. “Saturday will be our final Night of Destruction in 2015 and if fans miss this one, they will not be able to see it again until March of 2016. We expect this to be the best Night of Destruction in 2015 as we will crowning the season champions in both the Figure 8 and Figure 8 Trailer classes. In addition, word has it several new cars and drivers will be on hand. There has been a lot of Internet chatter from drivers and fans about this week’s show already.” Norco’s Earl Cox Jr., who has won more Figure 8 main events than any driver in the history of The PAS, leads Menifee’s Ken McWilliams by a mere 9-points in the Figure 8 championship standings. They are both second generation racers who fathers raced against each other in Figure 8 competition at Ascot. Nuevo’s Ryan Kinnett sits third in the standings and is only 21-points off the top spot. The only other driver with a mathematical chance at the championship is Long Beach racer Anthony Guisa who is 42-points in back of the leader. In the Figure 8 Trailer division, Kinnett a steamfitter/pipefitter by trade, sits on top of the point’s heap. McWilliams is second again, but is only 6-points behind the leader. San Diego’s Daniel Souto, who is a crowd favorite due to driving a bright pink Suburban, is third and trails Kinnett by 24-points. David Holmes, a member of the “Wrecking Crew” from Norco, is fourth, and hei s 33-points behind the leader. Guisa is the only other driver with a chance to win the title, but once again he is 42-points off of the top spot. Democross, which seems to be the favorite event of most of the fans at “Night of Destruction” and which will still have a couple of races at the Southern California on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds in October, is virtually a 20-lap race where anything goes. It is a Demolition Derby on the oval. San Diego drivers hold down three of the top spots in the championship standings for Democross. Jim Schoenning, who drives a popular blue 1960 Chevy, heads the standings with Kinnett 9-behind. McWilliams is third in Democross with San Diego’s Shawn Meyers and Souto holding down spots four and five. Chino’s Larry Douma is tied with Souto for fifth. The final event on Saturday will be Spectator racing. Two street legal cars on the track at a time. One starts on the front straight and one starts on the back straight (so they will not crash into each other). The first one to complete two laps wins that heat and moves on in the competition. The eliminations go on until there is just one car left and that driver collects all of the money and a big trophy.
