El Nino Winter Series Resumes Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway

PERRIS, CA (January 7) - Perris Auto Speedway hosts its first event of 2016 this Saturday, January 9th, with Round #2 of the “El Nino Winter Challenge Series.” Modifieds, Street Stocks, Super Stocks and American Factory Stocks will all be in action on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. Spectator gates will open at 2:00 PM and the first race will be at 3:00.

Round #1 on December 12th saw multi-time track champion Luke Dodd of Riverside win the Street Stock main, San Diego’s Josh Thompson won in the Modifieds, Billy Griffin of Buena Park took home the Super Stock checkered flag and 14-year-old Alyssa Smith of Norco topped the field in the American Factory Stocks. All are expected to be on hand this Saturday.

Rules for the five race series are simple.

“If your car is legal at your home track, it is legal for the El Nino Series,” promoter Don Kazarian stated on Monday morning. “The opener in December produced some sensational main event racing and we saw some different drivers out there. The show ran smooth and the fans were on their way home around 5:30 before it got cold. We hope for the same on Saturday and we think we will see some more cars as well. It is a great opportunity for teams to come out and get their cars dialed in for the upcoming regular season opener which is only two months away.”

Due to heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday, the soggy conditions in the pit area have forced cancellation of Saturday's El Nino Winter Challenge Series. Next race in the series will be on January 23rd.
