Title: Elam, Ross, Beals Win At Douglas County Speedway Post by C.W. on 06/28/18 at 7:06pm Roseburg, Oregon...June 16...Dale Roth won the combined Modified/Street Stock 30 lap Main Event Saturday night at Douglas County Speedway. There were just two Modifieds in attendance, and they ran 1-2 at the head of the pack with Elam winning by over half a lap in front of John Harvey. Meanwhile, Dale Roth moved into the point lead in the Street Stock division as he held off incoming leader Jeff Solberg to win their Main Event. Both drivers were a lap down to the Modifieds. Bill Stewart, Chris Lemon and Monique Scevers rounded out the finishing order. The Modified portion of the show saw Elam set the fast time of 15.755 and win the eight lap heat race. The Street Stock portion of the program saw Roth set the fast time of 16.679, beating the 16.966 of Solberg. Solberg won the four lap Trophy Dash comfortably ahead of Stewart, and Roth outran Solberg in a close battle for the eight lap heat race victory. The Hornet division continues to produce strong numbers, and it was Dave Beals besting a 13 car field for the 30 lap Main Event win. Beals scored his win with Ron Johnson close behind in second. Jeremy Simms was a solid third with point leader Pete Lemon, Cherish Wilson and Dylan Grichar completing the lead lap finishers in the Top 6. Roy Harvey was a lap down in seventh as Tyler Organ, Jeremy Pifher and Tom Durant completed the Top 10. Beals set the fast time standard at 19.573, nearly a second ahead of Johnson, who had a 20.450. It was Simms holding off Jeremy Mayfield by a comfortable margin to win the first eight lap heat race, and Beals battled Wilson to win the second heat. Beals also collected four lap Trophy Dash honors in another good race against Wilson. On Saturday June 30th, there is NASCAR K&N West racing at the speedway, presented by Clint Newell Auto Group. On Friday July 6th, it's the annual Graffiti/Can-Am Challenge, featuring PRA Hardtops, Modifieds, Pro 4 Wedge Cars, Mini Stocks and Hornets.
