SPARKY

Way to show them youngsters the way around the track...

Looked like it was going to be a SM top 5 finish for a while...then they started dropping like flies.

Bummer for Billy, (What broke in the front end...that thing looked like it pushed like a PLOW)

Brad Pounds blew up that WEIRD looking car in hotlapping I believe, then took over the 32 car (of Richie McGowan I believe)  In the beginning of the main Pounds ,who started outside Silva on the front row, got pounded by the 40 car of Breshears and fell back and was never a factor.

The  SM cars that were running up front were Silva out front, 77 of Kirkpatrick ran 2nd most of the race until he spun off 2 challenging for the lead, the 40 car run up in the top 5 for most of the race before retiring early.  The 68 was charging to the top 5 when it looked like something broke in his car in the North turns and he stopped on the front straight.  The 04 of Tim Randolph had a good top 5 too.

Lee Jensen made his way into the top 5 and finished 2nd.  Good racing all the way around.  15 streets showed, 14 started the main w/ Pounds car blown up.

bummer to see only 16 east vs. west cars. I was expecting around 20.

04 Tim Randolph
1 Robert Menenly
1n Mike Corwin
14 Rich Denman
15b Brad Pounds- (broke in hot laps)
23 Lee Jwnsen
23E Sidney Payne( did not race in the heats or main)
32 Nick Sylvester (Pounds took over in the heats and main cause his car broke)
30 Doug Hagio (watsonville racer)
40 Tom Breshears
54 Brady Bell
56 Joey Silva
66 Elton Shafer
68J Billy simkins
77 Kenny Kirkpatrick
77c Johnny Cardoza

16 cars but 23e never made it off the trailor.

A-Main top 9
30 laps

56 Silva
23 Jensen
04 Randolph
14 Denman
77c Cardoza
1n Corwin
66 Elton Shafer
77 Kirkpatrick
32 Pounds

Everybody else fell outa the race, because of some kind of mechanical failure. No real big wrecks to report.

Showtime Danny Sheridan won the 25 lap bandit main event with over a 1/2 lap lead over the second place finisher #36x. Knopf #5k came in 3rd i believe. Fiscus broke at like lap 2.

Nice drive back through the field Rich after being turned by the 04 early on. It's just no fair that the car that was the initial cause of the yellow gets a free pass! Also, Very nice JR, didn't know you could hold your breath that long, congrats'.

68j was working the outside really well, he  had passed a few cars in the south turns and had a run at  the 04 coming off of turn 2.  It looked to me like billy anticipated the 04 to move up the track as he came off the corner ( 04 had the line at this point)  When billy got out of the gas he drifted up and kissed the wall with the right rear.  That inturn brought the right front around and my guesse is bent a ball joint or tierod.   Billy definately had the outside working.....   Thats racin"....

A increase car count of all most 100% to the normal show, that is a good thing. But 20 racecars would have been great to see also, but still a great showing.

Chet,

From the stands I would have to say...you guessed it.

It looked very heavy, and rutts were in both ends.  I didn't see the big whole that came up the week before in 3.

The track looked like it was going to be pretty dry in hotlapping.  But the moisture appeared to come up pretty quick, and they kept repacking the track all night.

I went down to the track after the evening was over (arpund 9:45) and went to turn 1 and 3 and their was a HUGE @SS hole in turns 1 and 3. Heavely rutted into 1 and out of 4. Typical SMS
Turn 2 had started taking in rubber. as did the entrance to 3. I mean though they gotta fix those holes. They were HUGE.

Yes those holes were huge...the one coming into 1 had dug all the way to the sand. And the one going into 3 also had dug all the down to the sand.

Im sure some ball joints, had a couple bent rims and a flat on the RF.  Spark plug wires jolted off and the fan was buzzing the shroud.  Nothing ever comes good from slamming into a crash wall.  I thought the track should have cut me a check for grading the race track for them.  It was just a deal where Timmy car was coming up and the track closed up.  I tried to check up so we wouldnt crash and his RR hit my LF enough to hit the wall.  No ones fault, just a racin deal.  I'll get my parts straightened back out.

BTW, I WILL NEVER DRAW A MAIN PILL AGAIN.  If anyone ever sees me pull a pill for a main I'll do 10 pushups in front of the fans.  The days of me winning heat races and pulling 10s and 12s are over.

Good job last night old timer.
