Billy led most of that race and did a really good job holding off the 14 car of Denman.

Denman did look quicker, and had a better line getting past the Grand Canyon in turn one.  Billy looked like he was coming in too low and hitting the rut on a bad angle most of the race upsetting his line and speed to get off the corner.

It was just a matter of time before Denman would make a challenge.  That battle didn't go well for Billy.

Funny thing was, after Denman got the lead, he started entering the corner protecting the bottom the same way..and it cost him too.

I was rooting for BILLY, what a great way to kick off his Honeymoon that would have been.  But he'll win the BIG race tomorrow when he ties the knot.

All in all a great night of racing...  EXCEPT for the STUPID 2 yellow rule.

That rule KILLED B. Pounds, because HE got hit, and the car the hit him got locked to his door bars...  He and Toby had a great battle going and were both charging toward the front.  That BLACK Flag was very SAD.

Then the same rule KILLED the DLM #8, who was the pole sitter.  He spun on the opening lap into turn 1, bringing out the RESTART flag.  Went to the back and along with Bobby Houge IV, was quickly moving forward.  The #8 spun in 4 about 1/2 way into the 50 lap main, bringing out the caution...that ENDED his night too.

RULES are good, but sometimes there needs to be a OVERRIDE process, or appeal, or SOMETHING.  2 great cars, on the sidelines.

Now, the #49 FS, for NOT heeding to the BLACK FLAG...maybe a 2 or 3 race suspension would be good.

The brake broke when he got hit, so he had no brakes. Kinda of a bad let down when you lead a race, and run it clean for 45 laps, and crap like that happens. Watched the video, and it was very clear what happened, and I would have expected it from some other guys, but not Rich, and I think that's what bothers me the most.. Oh well, I guess that's what you call racing...

Sandie,

I don't know if you guys could hear Denman's interview w/ Jay appologizing to Billy after the race.

I watched him pull his car over to the tech area, and wondered if he'd go over to Billy's pits and do the same or not...of it that wasn't the proper time and place.

It was sad, but in a way you could see it coming as the laps wound down.  He was going to have to force the issue a bit, I don't think it would have been so bad on a smooth track.  I think Jensen saw it too, and just waited to pounce.   It was still a good race, I just wish Billy could have been in the middle of it in the end...car looked like it was hooked up.

Tonight had its share of way over aggresive driving.....Kind of sucks to leave turn 2, get a little loose and have the guy behind you put a bumper to you, not get out of it and let you catch it, but stay on the throttle and spin you out.....very different look...down the back straight and get a 360 deg ride....Oh well as the old saying goes.....what goes around    comes ??????  We will not forget that one !!!

2 bent rims, twisted shackle and a broken brake.  I could have raced with everything but the broken brake. Can't change anything now, just fix everything and move on to the next race.  Like my dad always said, if you were going fast enough, they wouldn't be able to hit you. That doesn't mean it doesn't sting a little.

BTW Sparky, thanks for moving out of my way when I lapped you. Some things they can't take away from me.

Hopefully  a couple of the SS guys went over and looked at the 56 DLM from last to second and not a mark on it in some excellent raceing and heavy traffic at times. Bad break for Billy, he didn't deserve that treatment and all the appologise(sp) in the world don't fix it. Kinda like the old I was goin so good I hated to slow down. I disasgree from Inthe Grandstands, if 14 was that much better, he'd  passed ya clean. JMO watching from the stands   Duane

None of the team Simkins team should say anything negative on what happened to Billy. Billy knows that you will be raced as you race others! It always comes back full circle. It may not be with the same person, same track, same year, but it always gets you! Larry.

Its getting to the end of the year and the driving is rougher. No slack is being given. Rich found the loophole, hit them but dont cause the yellow. The cause and collection rule had some big holes in it last nite; maybe it should be changed to CONTACT rule, send the guy to the back with a black, second offense park him (is that already a rule?). Way too many cars muscling thier way thru. Two broken cars for us the last two visits (?) to SMS????? But the weather was good! Pappys was closed, so we went to Dennys. Congrats to Lee.

How bad was the Ford hurt?

They do go faster just before they blow.

So dose this mean you have to blow a motor to set the next SS record at SMS?

I think the 34 car had a spec motor. He finished 5th. It looked like the 6 car broke a ball joint or a control arm on the l/f.

I've raced for just under 10 years and I don't think I've ever spun a car around or slammed a car or if I did I don't remember it.  I've always lived by the motto race others like you want to be raced.  If someone has been slammed by me by all means refresh my memory.  I've said it before, I could care less if someone bangs on my back bumper, tries to shake me loose or wants to rub a little.

Sparky - Since you didnt mind reminding my getting lapped with a RF flat and bent suspension I didn't think you would care me bringing it up.

Here are some pics from this weekends racing.  Sorry for the Bako ones, still trying to figure out the night features on my camera.

Sorry for the spots, my 7 year old niece got ahold of my camera and the lens needs to be cleaned!

Be careful about the punt remark Sparky..The one thing that is great, is I get to  watch all the races on the video, by myself, and without others around to influence me. I have been around a long time, and can tell what a car is doing and not doing, and what causes things to happen on the race track.....
