LOCUST GROVE AR. The last big event for the season at the Batesville Speedway will be held Thursday through Saturday, September 14-16. Owner and promoter of the Batesville Speedway, Mooney Starr, has decided to end the 2006 racing season on Saturday, September 23, making this the final special event of the season.
The 11th Annual Schoenfeld Headers Mid-America Street Stock Championship will attract the top grass roots racers in the region. Over $47,000 will be up for grabs that weekend, with $10,000 going to the winner of the main event in a class that is use to running for a maximum of $500 to win at the Batesville Speedway.
The weekend will begin on Thursday, September 14. All drivers will have an opportunity to practice that night in an open tune up session that will begin at 6pm, and go through 7:30. At 8:00, the all important time trials will begin. Each driver will attempt two laps against the clock, with the fastest times getting to start up front in heat events that will be held on Friday, September 15. Finally, on Saturday September 16, the final spots in the feature will be determined through Last Chance Qualifiers, then the 50 Lap main event will follow, that will pay the last place finisher more money than that driver could have won by winning most weekly feature events.
Basic rules for the event are as follows. Must weight 3300 pounds, with driver, after the race. Minimum wheel base 101 inches. All cars must remain stock. All cars must run track tire. Bars may be added, front and rear, to protect radiator and gas tank. No exterior bars. Radiators in engine compartment only. Engines must be in stock position. All cars must use 2 barrel carburetors. No more than 500 CFM maximum. 1 11/16 throttle bore maximum. Holley’s OK. Headers OK. Stock distributor, stock fuel pump. No electronic fuel pumps. Must have working clutch and transmission. No aftermarket transmission. Clutch must be on crankshaft. Shocks must be in stock position. Racing shocks OK. No weight jack, no double shocks, no torque absorbing devices. Rear ends may be locked. 10 inch wheel maximum. $500 motor claim with exchange. Bead lock wheels optional on right rear only. Front shock in stock position. Only cars on lead lap may claim winner only. Driver will pay winner $500 with motor (in running condition). Cars must have lift chains front and rear. No mirrors. Must have racing seat belts. Gas only, NO alcohol. Full stock floor pan back to rear-end yoke. Must have front and rear enclosed except where lights go. Any aluminum intake. No aluminum blocks or heads. Pit gates will open at 3pm all three days of the event. Pit passes will be $20.00 on Thursday, and $25.00 both on Friday and Saturday. Heat races on Friday, and Last Chance Qualifiers on Saturday are set to start at 7:00pm. Grandstands will open at 5:30 pm each day, and admission on Thursday will be free. Adult ticket prices will be $10.00 on Friday, and $15.00 on Saturday. Children’s tickets will be $3.00 for ages 6-11 on Friday and Saturday, will children 5 and under admitted free both days.
