Chowchilla 410 Sprint Shootout
09/12/06 at 1:02pm

I know this is a Late Model/Modified/Super Street site, but as anyone noticed that Chow is going to have a $35,000 purse for 410 Sprinters Oct 6-7?  What really surprised me is that the tickets are priced at $25 general Fri, and $30 Sat. I know that Tom is not promoting this race, but I really hope they have a decent crowd with those kind of prices......Thats almost NST or WoO ticket prices... The info does not say how much to win, just purse of $35,000 +

Chris,
if that wasn't the same weekend as Reno, we might have to blow the dust off of the Buckley

Are you guys going to bring the 3D car to Hanford for their Dirt Track Nationals on Oct 6-7 or are you going to Reno?

the word is that the actual first place prize money is $35,000 to win. They are expecting cars from all over for this non sanctioned deal. Brent Kaeding is committed along with quite a few Golden State Challenge regulars, the NST is off that weekend and in the area so I imagine youll see a few of those guys there. I think it will be a good show, the promoters have been hitting alot of tracks to pass out info so I guess we will see how it ends up.
Last weekend there was a $50,000 to win race in Chico so there seems to be good money up for grabs lately for the sprints.

That was the 53rd Annual Gold Cup race that started out at West Capital Speedway till 1981. That has always been the biggest paying winged sprint car race in the Western USA. The flyer for the Chowchilla deal states $35,000 purse. That is close to what the NST offers for their 1 night races. They have an approx $45,000 purse with $10,000 to win on 1 night races. I imagine it will pay between $7,500-$10,000 to win which is great, I was more concerned about the lack of front gate crowd. Tom tried a Golden State race there years ago and the Chowchilla fans did not support it to well. The front ticket prices were at the time $20.

Open show season needs to start in June next year, more weekends of fun and then I might get to play open wheeled again.
