How did Don Robert race turn to a SMS point night?

I thought it was understood that the Don Roberts race wasn't suppose to be a point night for SMS? I think it was even clarified on this board somewhere. The race had twice as many laps, had exempt rules like floorpans, aluminum bodies and even tires in some cases. In the 10 + years it's never been a point night. Even if was scheduled to be a point night why wouldnt you tell the drivers that BEFORE the race. I would be surprised but my instincts tell me Jim Pluhar made the post race call which leaves little to surprise. Not only that but the way they do the points on EW nights is lowsy. If you finish 18th you shouldnt take out all the cars non SMS cars and give the guy 7th. If you didn't finish 7th, you didnt "EARN" 7th. If you don't want to give out of town car points thats fine but you never give cars points for spots they didn't earn. That's comon logic 101. Logic and SMS have never gone hand in hand.

You got to run without a clutch/torque converter on your championships. The day we all got to take 40 lbs off our cranks, your finishes spoke for themselves. You're championships mean ( ) to me and who ever yelled out cheater at the banquet when receiving your awards. Im glad to see your proud of those jackets you always bring up in your arguments.

If I had won and got points Timmy would have been confused, we already talked about it. He was surprised as I was that SMS points were involved. My point was it's never been a point race so why now? And why not tell us if it is?

40 lbs. You must be smoking some good stuff in Bako. If I was so illegal, why was I allowed to race??? Oh I forgot, Diamond bought them off. I smoked you guys on 7" tires. I was an old guy in a new class, lots of experience. In '99 you were an FNG, didn't have your act together.That converter didn't mean jack.... The yelling guy was one of your buddies......................

Your right about Points That was something Different.. Never been a points race before. But it was a EVW points race with EVW Rules . So it wasn't a Open Show. Either... So Now were do you want to go with it? ? ? ? ?

Joey I finally Figure it out Why Coil cars are getting Screwed.... They know If Coil cars got to add a few things the Leaf cars Would Be Stomped on I know what a coil Car can do. With the right things UNSTOPPABLE

Specialy When I see a SS Leaf Spring Car WITH 4 SCREW JACKs on the REAR.. 1 For each eye Let .. STREET Where is Street In that

I must have to go down to the Local Dealership and See if any New Stock STREET Cars come With that kind of Suspension

Sparky hijacked this thread and popped off about me finishing second again. Since he was kind enough to tell me what he thought of my second place finishes, I thought I repay the favor and tell him what I thought of his championships. Seemed like a slam dunk. Now we can move on.

Whining on points: If mama68 added extra points or decided not to give points when ever she felt like it, do you really think the guys running up front would care less. Get real. Santa Maria Speedways track record of being incosistant speaks for itself. That's the diff between the EW and SMS

My "Act": I think I've had fast time more than anyone this year at sms, led 45 laps of 50 on the last race. Got knocked out of 3 races I really didnt have control of. Top SM car in the EW. Get a car together and show me your act. Easy to say when your eating corn dogs in the stands. Dont take it out on my because I've exposed that push truck races are boring. See, now you and sparky can go out and dance a jig if I crash this weekend.

As far as being called a cheater,...our family has been called that more times than I'd like to remember, so I don't like to think of it as a low blow, just an opinion, which everyone has the right to.

Obvious answer: Because Jim Pluhar goofed and instead of correcting it, they just rolled with it. Along the same lines as the annual walk over to the filing cabnit to copy off the 10 year old Don Roberts flier plagued with format/rule/pay errors and sending it out. And they wonder why that race flopped over the years. Totally oblivious.
