IMCA modifieds

Jim Pettit II’s many years of experience made up for an ill-handling car, as the two time NASCAR Southwest Tour champion drove the high side of the race track to win his second straight IMCA modified feature, and third for the season.

Previous feature winners Jerry Movrich of Gilroy and Todd Hermosillo of Watsonville, along with Jeff Meade, were among the leaders early in the feature. Meade and Movrich also won their heats, with Hermosillo taking the trophy dash.

In the feature, Hermosillo took second, and was followed by Chowchilla’s Randy Brown. San Jose’s Tommy La Liberte placed fourth and Salinas’ Robert Marsh, the current points leader, finished fifth.

Marsh doesn’t have a feature win, but, thanks to consistent top-five finishes, carries a 33-point edge over La Liberte with five races remaining.
