theres not a competitive modified driver out there, IMCA or WSM, that does not have money in there motors...the money factor is regardless..
got a point! For the guy who asked about the rule changes, most of the "ouutlaw" mods run basically ump rules! Alluminum heads, and a quick change rearend, which in the end is over all cheaper than the 9inch! Have not heard of any one allowing all aluminum motors! Also better tire choices! The G-60 sucks!

I also don't like engine claim rules or the crate late model rules either. I have always felt and believe that if you can't afford to run a division, don't run it. Why penalize the guy's who can. I would love to run a late model, but I can't afford it , so I race a modified.

you can NOT run aluminum heads, you can grove your tires, you can run a spoiler, you can get a little more creative with the body but still basically the same. You still can not have aluminum parts on car. so pretty much the same darn thing. your motor can be a roller, thats the biggest difference.

The motors are the same amount of money to build just a few different parts inside, and no loser running a junk motor tailing the end of the field will ever be racing your motor at the next race still tailing the end of the field! Thats the difference between IMCA and UMP/WSM racing. Also there seems to be a higher quality field that generally shows up at the UMP/WSM races. Not putting down the quality of IMCA racers just the experince level.

Funny some Arizona tracks just quit UMP and went to IMCA. Ya think they know something we have yet to learn. Crate lates just got cheaper to operate and there faster.

That is 100% on the money, lol, it been a long and hard road for racers in CA receiving good purse payouts and here in CA IMCA being called a weekly budget division per say has left racer on the short end of the payout for years on end and sky rocketing chassis and parts prices.
If the racers support this style of racing they will see the effect of thicker wallets, not empty wallets, itsn't a gold mine but its sure better than 35 to 50 to start. Everyone comes to race, but Tulare give back your 35.00 if you fail to make the show. That to me is promoting and shows that they are trying to improve racing for all.
IMCA at one time really paid well for racers to run their sanction, but if they want to keep their sanction alive then they need to work with promoters at the tracks that run their sanction and bring or find sponsorship to help provode a good and rewarding payout to teams that support the tracks and sanction, ifn't it will fail in CA for sure in my opinion.

Even better, must have increased the non qualifiers payout even more, the WSM site reflects $35.00

Lets clear this up. It's $1200 to win $100 to start the A main, $50 to run the semi except the ones that transfer to the A main. $35 to show up even if you break hot lapping.

That is what I recall, thanks Rita for setting us straight.

Jon never said WSM rules. WSM really doesn't have any rules (really). At least none that they won't allow to be bent. Jon from kings, said "OUTLAW Modified racing". There is little difference, but the enforcement of the rules is everything. I have seen this open mod stuff come and go, but IMCA is still around because they have rule enforcement and entry level affordability base on the rules . Any?

There was supposed to be more info today (4/20/09) from Jon. Checked King's website too, nothing!
So I still have questions:
1. Does anyone know how this will affect King's points standings for the mods?
2. Status Quo or will they start from zero on the first non-IMCA race?
3. Are the rules, as far as the car itself, the same? (besides claims and tire grooving)
4. Where can these rules be found? I saw WSM's rules but someone said it won't be WSM.
4. Are there major modifications required to go from IMCA to Outlaw?

to dirtracer8 if you LOOK at the IMCA site youll see hanford is a OFFICIAL IMCA TRACK will always be. racers just need to come out and try the new racing surface that was prepaired over the winter, the reason kings was removed was a miscommunication at IMCA,hope racers will try out the new racing surface.
