Way out front!
lower ball joints

Street stock Nova, stock lowers.
Q: I broke a right side ball joint in my last race at Perris, snapped it clean at the bottom of the taper, I knew this side was broke because it took me out of the race, but once I got the car back to my shop and was hosing it off and preparing to install a new ball joint I noticed the drivers side one had pushed its way out ( press in lowers ) and is still attached to the spindle, dangling through the lower arm.

Now I'm not asking if I can reuse that ball joint, but should I tack weld the new one in so it doesn't get pushed out or does that mean this control arm is crap and I should just replace it ?

Thanks in advance for your response........

What we did was weld on the screw in collar to the lower A arm, and then you can use a screw in ball joint instead of a tack welded one...a heck of a lot easier to change at the track if need be. A big crescent wrench and your done...Got them from Southwest Speed

Yep, and they now make an adapter sleeve that you press in then tack, and it is threaded on the ID so you can run the screw in's.

But I dont know if you can press them in the stock hole, I know they press in to the 2.190 (big Impala) size sleeves.

Victory Circle has them in stock

Check to make sure the a arm isn't bent. See if the balljoint has any press fit left. You can get an over sized stock balljoint at Kragen's Wink
