Some friends of mine (including Dave Mayhew Sr.) are involved with a R/C Dirt Oval Track up in Atascadero...

The track is about 205 ft (Runline) and is a cool little facility on private property out off Traffic Way. (East)

Joe all electric, or nitro too. And yes that the Elings park track,its improved about 1000% since I first raced there. There would have been a great track here in SM too.Just never got off the ground

I'll have to get some pictures this Saturday, but Hesperia has a new track that just opened. It seems the owner is really looking to do something good. He has an 1/8th scale track up and running, the 10th scale track is open, but not fully finished. He's building a rock crawler rock pile, and has plans for electric airplane park in the field next door.

I'm currently saving to outfit my wife and 2 older kids with 10th scales and I want an 1/8th scale truggy. Currently I pit my buddies truggy and in exchange I run his slash.

Can be extremely expensive, BUT where else do you get 5 hours of entertainment for $12 a head?? Thanks for the Pics. Post more if you got them and I'll get some this weekend

I am super impressed at the 1/8th scale's response to throttle control while in the air. I was never a high flyer on a dirtbike, but I understand the concept fluently. The second thing that has me wanting 1/8th scale is the shear durability of the chassis. I remember the 1/10th scale nitro I had, if it got within a couple inches of the wall it would snap an a-arm or turnbuckle (including the expensive graphite and titanium). The 1/8th scales seem to be able to handle a whoopin.
 My buddy is the one that takes a 500 car and puts 1500 into it. I've always been the one with the slightly upgraded stuff. Just enough to make it durable/reliable, and in some cases i needed extra power to keep up with everyone.

couldn't agree more on the short course trucks. I'm impressed at the racibilty of a stock truck against guys with 3 times the money invested. Last saturday I ran 4th after a shock came loose followed by the a-arm screw coming out. thankfully it fell apart in front of Jeff, although i dropped to last (10th) I cranked in some left trim and worked my way to 4th. Either the competition can't drive, or I am pretty good at this stuff. (a little of both i think)

FTG or Ryan.....Question about antenna wire, Long story short it got cut in two at the base of the plastic tube. I twisted them back together. Do you think I will have a problem with it tomorrow?

If so, I have a normal size reciever (slash comes with micro). It appears that all the connections are the same. Will it work and should I change it?

Testing it in back yard it works (about 80ft away) but wondering if the noise at the track will affect it. Thanks in advance.

The other reciever is out of a traxxas ( i was told jato I think it looks like a rustler) that was given to me in pieces. It has same size and same number of connections, it even has the same crystal. I will have to mount it in there next to the old one, because 1 it doesn't fit in the box, and 2 because the plastic that holds the tube in the air is broke (and now covered in super glue..which the wire is collateral damage to glue LOL).

The broken hole for tube caused the wire to break btw.

I'll try the solder and have the extra reciever ready. What'd you think?

When you replace a damaged receiver wire, the only real secret to doing it, is to make the new replacement wire the same length as the wire that was damaged, as close as you can get it. usually just solderng the wire would be fine, but you can easily crack the case and replace the entire wire from the board, again making sure it is the same length as the original.
