Wow what a total bummer. Never knew the guy but used to watch him in a ton of the old Moto/FMX movies. Always liked his style of riding, and on camera he carried himself pretty professional

Same Cameron steele. He,s doing pretty good for himself these days. Got those tvs gigs, races a trophy truck,and his wife won class 7 championship in score.

By the end of that season I was a Mcgrath Fan. Much in the same way I was a Gordon fan. It sucks that a guy starts winning everything and people start calling him "gay". Mcgrath was very personable at the pre race autograph signing at Mid-Cities Honda in Paramount. Met him Stanton,Henry and I believe their was one more on the Honda team that year.

Yeah....Many many MANY miles ridden in Johnson Valley. Bessemer Mine rd (soggy dry lake) was my favorite area to ride, followed by Boone Rd (sand hills and dry lake full of bomb craters). My #1 Place to hang out is Camp Rock rd (Anderson dry lake) many mines and old military sites if you know where to look.

My pops has been a member of the Desert Vipers MC since 74. I raced for them between 91 and 94. I was faster on the bike than my racecar. Started in 91 with the #253 made novice the first year, amatuer by the end of the next, and crashed out with the #17 (all before age 16).  until my stock bike (kx500) broke a rear suspension mount at the Prarie Dog Grand Prix in 94. Broke my hip, and took 2 surgerys to remove the pins ( dr didn't have the correct wrench the first time they went to remove screws). The crash is a very cool story but very long. I should have been killed or paralyzed  (90+miles an hour in sand wash, hit the edge of the Glen Helen Pavilion dirt parking lot and flew 200 yds, bike went over my head and 50 yds further. I was in top 5 of the Pros and relaxed.)

By the time I was ready to get back at it, My Hero and Idol Danny Hamel was killed by an ignorant Federali at the start of the Baja 500 in 1995. That messed me up pretty good. I truly looked up to that guy. He always had time to answer my questions, and every chance I got I would pre run the bomb with him to try to learn from him. He was 23 when he was killed, and after he was gone i had ZERO interest in continuing the chase. Without him as a mark, everyone remains second best.

100+ degrees in Red Mtn, Saturday 2nd place was an amatuer 250 rider in my novice open class (Ex Am Nov Beg). Took me until the last lap to reel him in...Sunday I smoked them BAD!!! My favorite trophy..Two Day Overall. When i find it I'll post it.

Track in hesperia has timing, no lights yet, but will be renting towers for 3 day event in Jan.
