i see the new street stock rules for VAR state that you can run vortec heads now, but it says your have to still have a 1.94" intake. Im new at this stuff and tryin to learn as much as i can, so thats why im asking, i thought vortec heads only had a 2.02" intake. Just tryin to take in as much info as i can.
thanks

Vortec heads that you would want to run (either casting 906 or 062) are both 1.94/1.5 heads.

Don't even change a Vortec head, they are capable of near 500HP right out of the box.
and in Hobby w/2-bbl and legal, you shouldn't be near that HP, and could continue well into Super Street if desired
Bigger valves for them flow less, they are well engineered, leave them alone for that division (except for screw in studs and adequate retainer to valve guide clearance and quality parts as allowed)
they are very different in many other areas (fast burn technology) so much less timing is required.
You will love them, best OEM Gen 1 iron head ever cast
I have run them since 97( and still have 3 iron headed Vortec SS engines, all still running), and won the VAR Hobby Championship in 02 with them (until they declared them illegal), and 2 Pearsonville Championships as well in 97 & 99
