I think mud x is better than mudd off, and there is a new one out too.
Dont get caught using petroleum products.
I think they do very little as far as keeping mud from sticking, but do make it easier to clean after the races

we just tried the dirt solution, works good, stays oily for two days, which would be my main complaint ! hard to work on it when everything is oily and it gets you dirtier!!lol

We've foud tht when we use "Mud Off" or "Mud X", it seems to work best if it's applied in light coats. I have a theory why, but I'm not sure if the theory is really correct, but here it goes. If you spray a bunch on right before you hit the track, most of it seems to run off of the car, and I don't think it works that great. We put it on in light coats, with the sray tip squeezed down to a light mist, and try not to let it run off of the car. I think the water evaporates out and leaves a film of oil on the car (instead of running off and hitting the ground), then we apply another coat the same way, trying not to let it run off of the car. If you can get three or four applications on like this before wheel packing, it leaves a pretty good layer of oil on the car.
