PASSCAR CHAMPIONS NIGHT RESCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY BEFORE THE AMSOIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR RACE!
(NOVEMBER 23, 2010, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian announced this afternoon that last week’s rained out PASSCAR Champions Night has been rescheduled for this Saturday afternoon, November 23rd, beginning at 2:00 PM. After the five PASSCAR races are run, the track will be reworked for the Glenn Howard Memorial Sprint Car race. Spectator gates will now open at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
Any fan who brings $5.00 in canned food will receive a free ticket to a March 2011 race. All of the collected food will be given to the Family Service Association of Redlands who will donate it to needy families.
Saturday’s PASSCAR event will feature the PASSCAR Street Stocks, Super Stocks (West Coast Street Stock Series), Modifieds, Sport Mods and the Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks. In addition to the championship main events, five Street Stocks and five Factory Stocks will square off in the winner take all inaugural Oil Twins Challenge.
With double points up for grabs, only one PASSCAR title has been decided heading into Saturday’s race. Tustin, California’s Alan Updyke has already sewed up his second consecutive PASSCAR Modified championship. In addition to winning the title last year, Updyke was the track’s IMCA Modified champion in 2005 and he has more Modified main event wins than any driver in the track’s history.
The most intriguing title to be decided on Saturday will be in the Street Stock Class. Moreno Valley’s Curtis Dietzsch, the 2007 and 2008 champion, is tied on 439 points with Murrieta’s Stephan Davies. If that is not enough, Perris 16-year-old Dalton Everhart is only 10 points behind the leaders heading into the title decider.
In the Super Stocks, Mira Loma’s Chad Burns, the 2002 champ, is five points ahead of defending champion Ken Searcy of Nuevo. Riverside’s Brian Pannone, who is racing his first full season since returning from North Carolina, is 26 points behind the leaders and would need a miracle to corral the crown.
In the Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks popular Steven “Bam Bam” Fangmeyer, who resides in Riversdie, has a comfortable 39-point lead over Anaheim’s Tim Pyle. Third place Jeff Gillum of Hemet, Keith Wood, also of Hemet, and Tom Gillum of Riverside all have a mathematical chance, but they would need Fangmeyer to virtually not show up for it to work out for them.
Riverside’s Johnny Lathrop, a former Figure 8 champion at the long defunct Corona Raceway, pretty much has the title locked up in the Sport Mod class. He has a 104-point lead over Dana Vinciguerra heading into the season ender.
