What he said
.
Although the engine compression might be increased to compensate for American Stock equipment.

Don't feel like dumping 8 new pistons into an engine that is already good to go. We aren't running asphalt, don't need 11.5:1. Might as well run an A-Mod.

It's all about interchangeability and being cost effective

Cost effective??? WWHAT???
Compression rule for American stock's at Ocean is more than sufficient for 2bbl carbs and a thousand+ pound lighter car. Communication between promoters is the key. They should have their own "Promoter's" banquet and have a few drinks while they hash out some standards for ALL classes they can live by. (Sounds a little like NASCAR in the old days). Jus' sayin'

Before you do that you might want to get a Ocean LM their cheaper than an A Mod and dont get crashed near as much.

" and dont get crashed near as much. "
could that be because the OLM have 1/3 the car count & 1/2 as many Races as the "A"mods?

No, it's because we have more tire and less motor so more controllable. 1/3??? lets just see what this class does to the 15 car Mod average at Ocean. Lates averaged 10 cars.

When the IMCA perk disappeared so did the cars. The same thing will happen if sport mods don't go IMCA, but there isn't much that can be done about that.
The problem was half-solved with the crate engine "disappearing" on the OLMs. They need engine power to turn those fat wheels that have so much grip. No power = push mode.
Here's hoping for a decent year for all classes

Matt, you won't have to buy slugs.... camel humps and a .053 gasket will drop your compression sufficiently.

I don't see Clay dumping Sport Mod expenses into it either lol. Maybe 4x or 5x?
And he dumped it for the money, plain and simple.
I'm hoping so Jeanne. I'd really like to have IMCA back though. Regional racing is far more worth the effort. But that's just the "why is my class called 5 different things within 200 miles?" talking

You probably misunderstood. That was pointed towards Ocean dropping IMCA.

Well as you all know by now hanford bako and ocean are all saying IMCA NSM Ruling i feel it a good idea to follow IMCA ruling even if you dont want to be a IMCA track here what i posted on the sport mod form

Im working on changing mine over from a CHOW sport mod to a northern imca sport mod. but need to see what merced and chow is going to do for rules, cause those are my local tracks and if there not going to be close to those rules then what the use. was talking with a buddie of mine and were think if tracks dont want to be called a IMCA track, then they need to follow there rule some,
Heres what we came up with follow all NORTHEN IMCA RULE EXCEPT
1 ENGINE RULE 360 dish or flat top Maximum compression ratio is 9.0 to 1, no tolerance just be able to run any intake NO CLAIMING But if track dont tech what the use
1 this would keep the cost down, 2 put everyone the big guy and the little guy on the same page 3 if IMCA Sport Mods come from other tracks they wouldn't be out motored, or suspension wouldn't out do there cars.
FEEDBACK would be nice
and just to say something about hobby stock i think most that have been running in the last few years has been out of the rules with chows ruling of add weight for bigger motor has had alot to do with hobbies being out priced or not being fun no more hobby to me now of days is a open comp class, run what u brung
build a IMCA NSM and have fun and not lose you A$$

yea i would make the trip rt by a track if i dont have a chance to win because of a set of rules lets at least get in sink with all the motor compression rules thats really my only concern. all the tracks should just run imca rules and enforce them then a guy can run anywhere jmo

yup all the guy that came from bako to race at chow for our big money races just whipped our a$s so it not worse it if you our powered IMCA ruling would ply into my favor with a small motor and being within the ruling so im going to keep pushing the issue to go IMCA lol
