powerglide and diff gear ratio preference??
02/14/11 at 9:13am

I am racing a super hobby at Antioch this year and was wondering if most guys with a powerglide are running first gear & like a 4:11 gear ratio, or 2nd gear with a higher rear end ratio like 7:20 or something?

We didn't run a glide but in the Super Stock class last year we generally ran a 7.00 with the Dirt Boss which are about 84" tires and turned in the mid 7,000 range. Some guys were running 7.40s. With the shorter tires you will be running, probably 500s or G60s which both are under the $100 limit and in the 81-82" range it depends on which engine you will be running.  With the 602 crate probably in the 6.20 to 6.50 range and with the 358c.i. would think in the 6.66 to 6.83 range.  All depends how hard you twist it of course but these would be good starting points. Hope this helps and you have fun.
