Power steering pump question
03/09/11 at 12:00pm

I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with mounting a stock power steering pump on a '78 or '79 Monte Carlo. I put a 350in engine in and now the power steering pump pulley is going to hit the steering box. Is there a year Chevy ( or other model) that mounts the pump higher or lower?? I have to run a stock pump, or otherwise I would get the aftermarket bolt to the head unit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for all of the help. I found a different mount and a smaller pulley that works just fine.

Remember, with a smaller pulley, you'll develop more pressure. Make sure the lines are adequate.

Thank you Duane. I will keep that in mind, it's doubtful I will be turning a lot of RPM with this combo....BTW I enjoy your posts on this site. Good reading...keep it up!

I enjoy most of your posts as well Andrew...so if I'm kissing A$$...well you make the call. I didn't know it was such a big deal. I was asking a simple question...I find posts from all of the folks on this site informative, enlightening and sometimes provocative. I just wanted to thank Duane for his thoughts and to comment on his posts...nothing more. I wish you a good day sir.
