This Saturday night, September 17th, the West Coast Late Models will make their first and only appearance at Petaluma Speedway this season for the annual Maselli and Sons Classic. The night will also feature Wingless Sprint Cars and Dwarf Cars for their final point’s race of the season.

Steve Drake is the series point’s leader going into the weekend over “The California Kid” Clay Daly. The San Luis Obispo native won the most recent series feature event on June 11th adding his name to Calistoga Speedway’s history book winning the first ever Super Late Model feature event on the scenic half-mile.

Daly, 44 points behind Drake, will be aiming for his first West Coast Late Model feature event of the season. The twenty-two year old from Hollister currently holds the points lead at the Santa Maria Speedway where he recently won two consecutive races.

El Segundo’s Nick Bartels sits in third in points just two points behind Daly. Bartels recently visited victory lane at Bakersfield Speedway and won the West Coast Late Model season opener at USA Raceway on February 18th. Mike Kirby and Jason Papich complete the top five in points. Both drivers are also looking for their first feature event victories this season within the series.

Chris Kearns Presents and the West Coast Late Models would like to thank Hoosier Tires, Pro Power Racing Engines, DFT Transportation, RoadRunner Fabrication, Dart Machinery, Manley, CP/Carillo, Isky Racing Cams, Five Star Grafix and Matt Mussell Designs for their support for the 2011 West Coast Late Model season.

"The San Luis Obispo native won the most recent series feature event on June 11th"

Was there really no races for this series from June 11  to September 17?     I know there have been LM  races at bako and SM ,  none of those were WC Shootout races?  just curious...

I'll offer the flipside to that.  I really like it when there are gaps like this.  Those guys get to race wherever they want during the downtime, but then when they come all together it truly IS a big show, because it doesn't happen too often.  Sure everyone wants a weekly schedule of Late Models like the traveling Outlaws, but then there wouldn't be a bigtime feel to it.  Why go one place when they're at a place you can just as easily get to one week later?

I'm pumped to see these WCLMS guys at my home track, and even more pumped to get to call it for the first time.

There were no WCLM Shootout races since June 11th. There have been a few DIRT races since then, but everything else has been the track's local DLM races...

I pretty muched just scheduled special events this year.

Copper on Dirt
Nationals @ santa maria
First trip to Calistoga for Late Models
Maselli & Sons
Bud nats
etc.

I didnt want to schedule races at the workshop in Reno, that I knew promoters couldnt afford and would just cancel. I guess it would have made the schedule look better at the beginning of the season though!

Yeah I understand... with the economy and the car counts etc  teams can't travel  on a regular basis like they were able to a few years ago...
