protective plastic on aluminum

anyone know of a way to get that blue protective stuff they put on colored aluminum?

i think it sat in the sun to long... i can scratch it off but it wont peel off like it should... i cant even get it to start peeling... i even tryed a heat gun...

anyone know of anything i can spray on it, that will eat it off without hurting the white?

Posts: 31	Re: protective plastic on aluminum Reply #3 - 02/26/12 at 7:42am I used acetone to get overspray off and it worked.It makes it a little sticky at first then I sprayed and wiped off windex and it looked and felt just fine.I would try it in a small spot first

Posts: 296 Bakersfield,Ca	Re: protective plastic on aluminum Reply #5 - 03/02/12 at 12:17pm Acetone is alot hotter than mineral spirits so it may be avaporating before it gets a chance to penetrate! Try letting the mineral spirits soak for a bit and it should loosen up!
