PASSCAR STOCK CARS OPEN 17TH SEASON SATURDAY AT PERRIS!

(Perris, CA, February 28, 2012)  On the heels of last Saturday's successful open wheel opener, Perris Auto Speedway will launch the 17th season of PASSCAR Stock Car racing this Saturday, March 3rd.  The Oil Twins Amsoil Street Stocks, Super Stocks. Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Pick-A-Part American Factory Stocks, Super 4 Bangers and the CDCRA Dwarf Cars will all be in action for the season starter. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday with the first race slated for 6:00.

For the 2012 season, PASSCAR fans and competitors can look for an improved show at The PAS.  All competitors will have one way radios, the inner quarter-mile track has been improved, 1-800LoanMart has a special high dollar series for the Oil Twins Amsoil Street Stocks and Day Construction is guaranteeing a purse for the Sport Mods through the first seven races of the season.

"The radios will improve the show for everyone," promoter Don Kazarian said.  "Fans will not sit through frustrating lengthy yellow flag periods as officials try to signal drivers where to line up.  This was a big concern for the fans.  The scorer will immediately be able to tell the racers where they belong and we can go back to green flag conditions much quicker.  The radios will allow us to complete the races faster and avoid cutting off main event laps to avoid the curfew.  We will also be able alert drivers where to go when there is a crash on the track saving them from getting involved and damaging their cars."

For the Oil Twins Amsoil Street Stocks, 1-800LoanMart has added a series within the series that will add $3,000.00 to their purse on four nights.  The
"1-800LoanMart 2012 PASSCAR Street Stock Challenge " will take place on April 14, June 23rd, September 1st and September 22nd.  Those four races will also carry a $5,000.00 point fund to be split among the top three drivers at the conclusion of the September 22nd race.  Also, on November 23rd & 24th, the track will close the season with the "1-800LoanMart Street Stock Turkey Bowl" that will carry a minimum $15,000.00 purse.

The Sport Modifieds will be racing their first season on the quarter-mile and (when they last race at The PAS two years ago they were on the half-mile).  Day Construction of Costa Mesa has ensured that the class will have a cash purse through the first seven races even if less than 10 entries sign in.  In such cases the drivers will split $500.00 from Day Construction.  If more than 10 Sport Mods show up in the first seven races, they will get their regular purse and will still split the extra $500.00.

The redesigned quarter-mile will provide much better racing for the Factory Stocks, Sports Mods, Super 4 Bangers and the CDCRA Dwarfs cars.  Kazarian added banking to the track and widened it so cars can go two and three abreast all the way around the oval.  

"It is sad for racing that Victorville, Orange Show and Irwindale have all shut down," Kazarian said.  "We are getting lots of phone calls from drivers from those tracks and drivers from other tracks who want to come race with us when their schedule permits.  The pre-season interest we are receiving is the most we have gotten in years and we are very excited about 2012.  If the classes that race with us for a purse get more than 24 entries on a given night, the winner gets $1,000.00.  I think that will be happening quite often in multiple classes this year."

Defending champions Stefan Davies of Murrieta in Oil Twins Amsoil Street Stocks, Tustin's Alan Updyke in the Modifieds and Joseph Altig of Imperial Beach in the Super Stocks are all expected to be on hand and racing their respective classes on Saturday.  Keith Wood of Hemet, who won the title in the Pick-A-Part American Factory Stocks last year, will be moving up to the Street Stocks for 2012.

Tickets for Saturday are $12.00 for adults.  Active military members with proper id, teens age 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 get in for just $5.00.  Children 5 and under get in for free.
