NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION #4 SATURDAY & SPECTATOR RACES!
(Perris, CA, September 4) This Saturday night, September 8th, Perris Auto Speedway will host "Night of Destruction #4," featuring a Figure 8 Trailer Race, Open Competition Figure 8 Races, zany Demo Cross action and Spectator Racing. It will be the last full "Night of Destruction" on the 2012 schedule. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first crash will be at 7:00.
"Our 'Nights of Destruction' have exploded this year," Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said with a grin. "Every time we have gotten more entries and that makes for better action. And, the crowds have responded as well. Like the fields of cars, the crowds have kept growing and their enthusiasm is infectious."
The famous Riverside County clay oval will be hosting Spectator Racing for the second time on Saturday and the rules are quite simple. Drivers must be at least 18-years-old and have a valid driver's license. Participants will have to show "Proof of Ownership" and "Proof of Insurance" when entering and the names must match on each certificate. The cars must be "Street Legal" and convertibles will not be allowed to participate. Drivers will be required to wear a helmet. The entry fee is $50.00 and includes the driver and one pit crew member (additional pit passes are $25.00). Half of every entry fee ($25.00) collected will go to the winning driver. If there is a full field of 32 cars, the winning driver will take home $800.00.
The Spectator Races will be contested on the tracks inner 1/4 mile oval. There will be two cars on the track at a time. There will be a start/finish line on the front straightaway and another one on the back straight. Two avoid the possibility of collisions, one will start on the front straight and one will start on the back. The first car to complete two laps will win and continue on in the competition while the other will be eliminated. The process will continue until only one car remains.
"We ran the spectator races for the first time in July," Kazarian said. "There was a lot of interest, but people were afraid they might wreck their cars. They thought the racing would be side by side and feared wrecks. We designed it exactly opposite to take the possibility of wrecks away. Now that people have seen how we do it, I think we will have a lot of entries. After the last one, we had all kinds of people asking when the next one was and how do they enter. The crowd went nuts when they saw the spectator race last time. It was as loud as they got all night long. Over the long run, it is going to be a bid deal."
Those interested in competing in the spectator races can go to the following link to print out an entry form and bring it to the pit gate or they can get one at the track on Saturday.

The Figure 8 Trailer race will features drivers pulling boats, outhouses, appliances and more on the crisscross course on the infield. The open competition Figure 8 action will take place on the same track while the crazy Demo Cross will be on the quarter-mile oval and is a "no holds barred" wild event that basically does not have rules.
