How thick is the aluminum sheet used to make hobby stock bodies?

That is the plan.  I haven't found any websites that offer aluminum panels.

I am most interested in front fenders and hood.  If there is something reasonably priced I would certainly consider it for my nova.

Hey Curtis, I know a guy who deals in fiberglass panels made specifically for race cars. I bought my hood for 100$ from him.

I have found a few that make panels for Camaros but none are really local or they make them more for the pro-stock than a hobby stock type of body.

I am attempting to make my own.  I have a feeling it will turn out looking like crap (at least the front fenders).

Aluminum is a pain to work with.  Lots harder than steel.

Johnny Fab may get a call

triplexl46, The aluminum hood should be lighter than the steel or fiberglass and should only cost me about $50

The easiest thing for the fenders is to use the stock tops and leave like a 1" lip to rivet an aluminum side to. Thats how we have done ours and they are a little more sturdy for a fat guy like me to lean on.

Interesting idea.  Thank you, I just might try that.

My front fenders were trashed after last season (4 season on those fenders).  As I suspected they don't look very good but they are light.
We'll see how long they last.
