Smallish fields in all 3 classes at the Taxi OPen last night. Super Stocks had 13, Limited Lates about 10 or 11 and the Hobby/Pures about 10. Crowd looked pretty good. A very fast and heavy track led to pretty much single file racing in all classes, not a lot of passing, surprisingly little in the way of accidents and the whole show was over by 9 p.m. Ray Trimble was out front about the whole SS main and won over Mitch Machado and Sean Hulsey. Mitch started 4th and probably was hard charger. We started mid pack and stayed there till we blew a clutch with a few laps to go. Bummer way to start our season. Trimble got busted at the scales for too much rear percentage then rechecked and, last I heard, reinstated. Engine setback cars like Ray's are converted mods and reatricted to 53% rear. His car was supposedly 69%. Ryan McDaniel was the show in the LLMs with his new/old car up on 3 wheels most of the main running down Matt Micheli for the win. Ryan's old man, Randy, came very close to rolling his car in turn one but saved it. Les Frend started his season where he left off at the end of last year winning the Hobby/Pure main. Don't know if the short fields are the aftermath of last week's tragedy or guys' cars simply weren't ready. Sorry I can't give the complete results but we were pretty busy all night. MRP's website should have them posted in a couple of days. One more cup of joe then out to knock the mud off the car and start tearing into it to try to get ready for Silver Dollar next Friday.
