Fan shroud clearance
04/10/13 at 9:38am

I am making a new fan shroud.  How much clearance should I leave between the tip of the blade and the edge of the shroud?

Thanks for the response.

I am trying to weigh making the shrould efficient (as close to the fan as possible) and making it accomodate a little movement (that sometimes occurs during a dirt track race).  1/2" inch seems awful close.  You haven't had issues?

It is also very important not to get the fan too far inside the shroud. If the fan is too far in the air can not come off the tips of the fan blades. I allways put it in 1/3 the width and 1in all the way around.
