Thanks for the response.

I am trying to weigh making the shrould efficient (as close to the fan as possible) and making it accomodate a little movement (that sometimes occurs during a dirt track race). 1/2" inch seems awful close. You haven't had issues?

If the fan is too far in the air can not come off the tips of the fan blades. I allways put it in 1/3 the width and 1in all the way around.
