Good sample of a IMCA Stock Car race. A lot of big names in that race.

Here's a fast explanation of the IMCA Stock Car. Greg is a  top ranked driver. A little camera nervous and didn't mention that I ran a leaf spring.

The open/ 350 carb motor is the same as an a mod open motor. Same motor rules except you have a choice of two spec intakes and you run a 350 cfm Holley 2 bbl carb. Idea was to make it easy to build a motor to cross over classes and borrow one from you buddy when needed. Rick Childress is my buddy now!

The 500 carb option is a Bakersfield hobby stock motor with the spec intake and 500 carb. Any flat tappet solid or hyd lifter is allowed using a 1.25 max diameter valve spring. The GM cylinder heads are defined by casting number and are a no touch rule; same open chamber we run on the hobby. There is a 10.5 max compression ratio which is easy to hit. This motor is run on 91 pump gas.

Happy New Year.

Shocked This class is about to explode in the area. There's a lot of people thinking about but just have not pulled the trigger on building cars. 2015 will be a great year for the class. I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more cars joining throughout the year.

Another bargain is the tires and wheels. The IMCA Stock Cars run the same as the Modifieds. Bead lock on the RR only. Any offset is allowed. Siping allowed, grooving not allowed. Wear is good, better than a dirt boss and not as good as a street/ hobby tire.I have bought only a couple new tires for the past 4 seasons. We have had no flats on the track due to racing contact. It can be argued the low car count and the generous sized Hanford track; but I'll enjoy it for now. I get used tires from the modified guys. I don't feel there is a reasonable difference between new and used. And most of the time I just don't have the money anyway: so as they say " it is what it is".

I thank Pounds Racing, Larry Wise and Jason Selvedge for the help on tires.

Great Info Dave. I bought an IMCA Stock car from Chris Hamilton in 2010 and traveled from Northern California (Antioch area) to race at Hanford (Kings Raceway). Well worth the drive, great track, promoter and awesome group of racers. Liked it so much, I bought a second IMCA Stock car....Loren DeArmonds Championship car. The car is more than capable, the driver is still getting there!!! Loren is a friend and an awesome driver. He raced Sport Mods, was IMCA CA State Champ his first year!! Loren has returned to the IMCA Stocks for 2015, watch out..... DeArmond,Childress,Bauer and Troy Patee, there are going to be some fast HotRods and great drivers racing this class in 2015. Racing with and against these guys is great, they race you hard and clean. As a spectator, there is something about watching full fendered street cars racing door to door..... the Bakersfield crowds this last year proved this point. I wish a Nor Cal promoter/track would take on this IMCA class and let the spectators see this class. The cars and rules package are Nationalized and unified!! A step up class for Hobby Stock drivers and you can travel to other tracks and compete on a level surface rules wise. I agree with Chris Swank, this class is on the verge of exploding. By far the most bang for the buck in Dirt Track racing. Check out some IMCA Super National Videos from Boone,IA.  IMCA Stocks are the crowd favorite!!!! 2015 looks to be a great year for IMCA Stocks in California.

The IMCA Stock Cars news and information are covered at many levels. Our local Faceb00k connection was started last season under the Central Valley Tanks banner. This ID was used at Rockyhill Speedway as to not conflict with IMCA ID. Last year Rockyhill was not sanctioned by IMCA. We will continue to run the CVT flag at Rockyhill and as of now Pat Biggs of Central Valley Tank is sponsoring the Stock Cars at Hanford and Rockyhill. Bako is in the works. Rockyhill will run the CVT class as per the IMCA rules.

The schedule, updates, bits of interest will be posted.
Here's the faceb00k connection.

Great deal considering you can see the car in person and not spend $1700 in gas to get it here.

IMCA allows any chassis in the Stock Cars class except a Mustang and a camaro / firebird. Most all cars in the class run the metric Monte Carlo 1978 to 1988. These have a full frame and coil spring / 4 bar rear suspension. IMCA has accommodated Ford and Mopar by allowing their motors to be installed in the metric frame with the same type body as the motor.

The front suspension and steering is simple. All stock as manufactured, except tube upper a arms with the IMCA tax stamp and its mount. Quickeners are allowed. Taller ball joints are ok, no 3 piece. Weight jacks are ok. Heim end shocks are OK, no aluminum or external reservoir.

The rear suspension is basically stock. Ford 9 in floater with disc brakes. Coil chassis upper mounts need to be level and lowers can be longer than stock with multiple holes.Stock length control arms all mounted to the stock cross member. Aftermarket coil springs with screw jacks allowed. Heim end shocks OK. Leaf spring allowed in the stock location. No floating.
